Dave, you're in denial. This board is going nowhere. They are prepared to fire-bomb their own fanbase to defend their untenable positions.

How long did it take Kenwright to "see a sale" the last time? And what happened? He STILL cemented his toxic culture into the walls of the club.

You've fought the good fight - but this boat is sinking. Don't be the conductor of the orchestra while the life boats are being lowered and the Jumbotron happy-clappers are putting on their wigs and lipsticks to ensure they get away unscathed.

That's how I see it.

We're relegated the board and owner won't think "how do we change it on the field" they'll think "how do we survive financially".

Self preservation with be paramount. The club and the football 2nd.

Yep. If we do manage to get back up. Our squad will be cut to the bone and it'll be a championship squad trying to cling onto prem status. We will be a yo yo club unless we get bought by a petro state.

The only positive I can see is that we will be a big fish in a smaller pond. We might be able to attract young and hungry players for that reason. But failure to be promoted instantly and we will slowly fall into obscurity and become the next Wednesday (or whoever).

It's going to be sad seeing Goodison half empty.

This current squad is a bottom half Championship squad. It’s not a fire sale that I fear, it’s not being able to get rid of them that will kill us. You’re not of this planet if you think there’ll be clubs circling around cherry picking all of our players, quite the opposite.

This is a long term problem. I can understand hoping things will click after 10 games, the WC, Christmas, etc, but we’re at the business end of the season and this is one of many very damning stats.

This squad cannot handle PL footy. It’s not gonna click at Leicester, we’re not gonna pull a great performance out against City. We’re going to be relegated. You haven’t got to be happy with it, like, but probably best to get comfortable with it.

Only need to accept it when it has actually happened - till then errrrrrr no.

Farhad hasn't always proven himself to be wise but he made it clear we face an existential crisis. If we go down the challenge won't just be coming back up it will be surviving. I don't much recognise this everton but the championship edition will be something none of us will want to associate with the club. Firesale, signing free contracts, a worse team than we have now, no money, threat of deductions, and being everyone else's cup final all season.

We need to stay up, and if we do pray the new investment comes in and there is a cull at the top.

Leicester aren't at the races this season either so heads up and on to Monday.

We won't score any more goals in the Championship with our current squad

Let's face it guys, you were NEVER going to get anything out of last night. Newcastle are flying at the minute and look set for a champions league spot, which is well deserved in my opinion.
I've looked at the games that the teams at the bottom have left.
I truly believe that you can survive, picking up points against Bournemouth, Wolves and Leicester. Lose against Leicester and I can't see how you're getting out of this.
One thing I noticed last night was a thunderous start but with little quality in the final third but the effort was there. I know that Gray is a bit lightweight but I think he needs to start. I don't see many other attacking options, so play him, giving you another option. DCL now needs to show his worth and bully defenders. It's a scrap from now until the end of the season and heads cannot drop if you go 1 down. Dyche just needs to drill this into all his players, apart from Coleman. It's a shame you've not got 10 of him.
As for Pickford, I can't understand why some on here are knocking him. You'd have been relegated weeks ago if it wasn't for him.
Anyway, dust yourselves down for Monday and I hope you get the results you need. As a Stoke fan, I simply cannot imagine Everton in the championship. Many Stoke fans on our forum (The Oatcake) are gunning for you.

I said last night this would be Everton lost for a generation in the lower league.

We're not equipped to come back up financially or psychologically.

Look at Leeds when they were relegated in 2004 - it took them 16 years to get back up and they took the drop into League One along the way for a few seasons.

They like us imploded.

Is it? I have no idea tbh,is it much worse than Burnleys?or did they make some good signings?

Thing is, unlike Leeds (one club city) and Forest (biggest team in their city) we'll also be hemorrhaging fans to that lot. It's grim.

You're not reading the situation. If you think being involved in two relegation campaigns and surviving them inevitably leads to another relegation campaign then you're out of whack with relaity. We know that the owner is seeking investment and any investors will oust the existing board. We know that our FFP situation is to change for the better shortly.

If you want go with some 'circling the drain' fatalism then be my guest. That's just another way of accepting relegation because things have become hard to deal with.

To avoid you putting words into my mouth, what I think is that if this board remains in place - which it definitely will if we stay up and almost certainly will even if we go down - then we are, yes, almost certain to fight another relegation battle next season.

By definition, given our alleged FFP situation, two consecutive relegation battles, and the dysfunction at board level, we are very definitely circling the drain. I haven't accepted relegation at all. I have simply accepted that we are very likely to be relegated, while retaining a slight hope that we can somehow extricate ourselves by winning at Leicester - or at least not losing and living to fight another day or two until another Hans Segers can be found. But one would have to be on mood-altering drugs very optimistic indeed to expect that positive outcome.

This has been coming for a few years. At some point or another during the course of every season or so, dating back to Martinez’s second season, we’ve been under some kind of threat of relegation. Always banking on the fact that “there’s three worse teams than us”. But eventually, those worse teams either fall away or strengthen. We’ve done neither. In fact, we’ve got progressively worse.

There can be no complaints if we go this year.

Except that isn’t true. We have sold all but one of the Crown Jewels and have still posted losses (just not as big).

If this team is relying on blue smoke flares before the match and letting what goes on between fan groups and the board impact their performance on the pitch then we absolutely deserve to go down.
