Aye, tournament footy is probably peak for me. Outside of Everton and the odd cup final I feel its overstaurated and uncompetitive.
Get rid of James and Digne who were our most creative players back then. Madness. You have to blame Benitez dont you? Thats definitely when the worm turned, 100%. His fault.
cheers fella , I suspect that we will need more than luck but thanks anyway.Villa fan in peace. Just lurking from Friday afternoon boredom and hope you don't mind me posting. I have a soft spot for Everton, a proper club with a lot of similarities with Villa, and I really hope you stay up. But if you do go down then I promise all is not lost. When we went down we'd been rotten for several seasons, and it was a chance to reset and detox, clear out the deadwood and start again. The championship can be a lot of fun, more competitive, less money obsessed (on the face of it anyway) and it’s likely you’ll compete at the top end of the table, when every game means something, every team is desperate to beat you (always makes winning sweeter) and you’re looking up the table rather than down. Villa’s ten game winning run to reach the playoffs, Grealish destroying defences single handedly and seeing my lad’s face at the final whistle against Derby in the play off final are all amongst my very favourite Villa memories. Best of luck for the remainder of the season.
That was his whole thing even at the [Poor language removed], got rid of Xabi Alonso cos he wanted BarryGet rid of James and Digne who were our most creative players back then. Madness.
Probably got rid of Digne at the right time, he's been very average for Villa.Get rid of James and Digne who were our most creative players back then. Madness.

If we lose at Leicester we're done.
Even a draw wouldn't be particularly brilliant, but it would at least keep our hopes alive.
We have a good chance of a win V Newcastle. I expect us not to lose. Suspect its 3 points from those 3 games.
Telegraph Sport understands that Everton started to plan for the doomsday scenario of going down last summer, having narrowly avoided the drop, after including relegation clauses in the contracts of their new signings.
But many of the players who were already at the club did not have significant relegation reductions written into their lucrative contracts, while goalkeeper Jordan Pickford signed a new contract, worth over £150,000-a-week, in February.
A source told Telegraph Sport: “Players who were signed in the summer have relegation reduction clauses in their contracts, but not everyone who was there beforehand has one.
“The club have tried to be responsible after almost being relegated last season, but it has created a strange situation in which some players are facing pay cuts and others aren’t.”
