I guess the question is - when do the financial penalties kick in around wages in the EFL? Is it immediate, like we get relegated, have a massive wage bill and that's it? Or do we get til the start of the season/end of the window to get ourselves in order and get the players out the club?
Whatever is written in their contracts.

Yeah, it was shocking the way those fan groups didn't buy a forward in Jan, they should be ashamed at their actions.
You dont make a bad situation worse though do you?

I've already stated that the actions of that lot in the grand scheme of things that got us to this point are low if you want to explain our impending relegation, but the atmosphere of disunity was purveyed from the new year onward.

That cant be denied.

And what was it all for in the end? Kenwright and his cabal are not going to survive this. Stay up, go down. He and his lot were/are almost gone.

I very much doubt I'm alone in my reservations and criticism of the loose confederation of social media groups who threw their weight behind that pitchforking campaign in the teeth of a relegation storm.

You've got everything wrong there.

We;re being relegated by a lot of things: the owner primarily but also the board who have provided no oversight or control over the owner. And I'm not "blaming the fans" at all. I'm saying specifically that a campaign orchestrated by a group without structure and with no democratic decision making process has created an atmosphere of disunity in a situation where it was deadly to be disunited.

All of that is the truth.

'Stooge' my arse.
No offence intended mate, but that bold section above is absolute cobblers.

On the hierarchy of blame they are well down the list, but they are on the list. IMO.

There's no question in my mind that the chasing out of Kenwright and the rest and the constant updates about how terrible the club is under them had an impact.

How could it not? It was a distraction the manager and players didn't need.
To be honest, I think Dave has at least half of a point.

While I agree change is needed, and I’m certainly no fan of Kenwright, the protests and things could’ve been a bit more streamlined.

By that, I mean that they rubbed a lot of fans up the wrong way who otherwise agree with them and could possibly have joined their cause.

This is like a foreign language to me.

I know how I'll feel if we take the drop and it'll be like the world has ended.

Still, once "the grumpiness" gfoes we can start enjoying life watching Everton play Middlesborough for a few years.

I think it will seem like the end of the world when it happens. I think the summer will be quite a miserable experience.

However, I am hoping once the season starts and we playing games every week it will be fine.

I will be absolutely distraught make no mistake.

Sorry Dave, I’m not having it.

Apathy and inaction from us all as fans, for years have been a massive issue and aided and abetted our current turmoil - not the coming together of fans groups and individuals to try and make a difference by targeting those which can have the biggest immediate impact i.e. not moshiri, though his time will come.

The players just don’t care enough to let it bother them - they are all, in the main, spineless wasters.
The timing of it was chronic.

It hasn't helped our fight to avoid the drop at all.

Villa fan in peace. Just lurking from Friday afternoon boredom and hope you don't mind me posting. I have a soft spot for Everton, a proper club with a lot of similarities with Villa, and I really hope you stay up. But if you do go down then I promise all is not lost. When we went down we'd been rotten for several seasons, and it was a chance to reset and detox, clear out the deadwood and start again. The championship can be a lot of fun, more competitive, less money obsessed (on the face of it anyway) and it’s likely you’ll compete at the top end of the table, when every game means something, every team is desperate to beat you (always makes winning sweeter) and you’re looking up the table rather than down. Villa’s ten game winning run to reach the playoffs, Grealish destroying defences single handedly and seeing my lad’s face at the final whistle against Derby in the play off final are all amongst my very favourite Villa memories. Best of luck for the remainder of the season.
Have a couple of Wolves supporting mates and they say similar things. They absolutely cherish the days when they were in Div 4 and Div 3 and when Steve Bull was knocking goals in for fun. They also say that winning in the Play Offs eclipsed winning the Championship title. They both say they wouldn't have missed any of that for the world. Going to the pub nearest the ground, taking over the town, enjoying seeing different places and having a whale of a time. So, relegation can actually be fun...who knew? There is life outside of the Prem and frankly, I'll be glad to get rid of VAR for a season.

I never thought I'd see it.

I was at the Wimbledon and Coventry games and going behind to Wimbledon was the only time I thought I would before this moment.

It'll be harder to handle now than if it happened in the early 90s because the gap has become massive between the two leagues.

We really are staring into the abyss.

It wont be miserable. It'll be traumatic. This will change everything.

It'll be hard for us all to silo-off the rest of our lives from this.

It's so hard to know what to expect from a season down there I guess.

No idea what the squad will look like.

No Dave, what was chronic was the Board of Directors, on the eve of a HUUUGE game with Southampton, falsely leaking information to the press about an alleged assault. 2 hours and 30 minutes before kick off of a relegation 6 pointer.

If you're expecting me to contradict that then I wont.

But the situation was poisonous before that.

What happened in its wake was a campaign that sucked in the energy of thousands that should have been used elsewhere.

Last year showed how the coach welcome boosted the morale of the players. This time around (apart from last night) it went into a protest at seeing off a board of directors who cant even attend matches. That's how perverse the whole thing was.

Saw it mate - dreadful and shocking. Some Poor arl fellas lad got sparked out trying to protect him.

Kids terrified and screaming all over the gaff - horrible.

No place for it and I won’t be taking the kids if that’s the future of the club.
Disgusting. This needs tough consequences doled out swiftly.
