People will be saying things like “But Lads. It’s Everton” before too long, if they’re not saying it already.
In a month's time, when we look back on this calamitous season, we will be telling ourselves that we knew we were relegated not when we were mathematically down, but when our fans quaked in their boots and waved the white flag at the mere mention of Brighton and Hove Albion.

I've never written off Brighton. I have always believed it was an opportunity for points. Maybe it's an age thing, but I have never looked at Brighton and Hove Albion as anything other than a plucky yo-yo club who we regularly swat aside. They're having a great season and are superbly managed as a club. But, Lads. It's Brighton.
Regardless of what team you're talking about, any team sitting in 8th (with 3 games in hand) at this stage of the season is going to be far superior to a team sitting 19th with just 1 win in the last 11 games.

I get it but hope the players don’t treat it like that and think they can show up and roll over Brighton due to their name.

I actually think it’s a good time to play them. They will be getting abit nervous with the chance of european football. Bit more pressure on them than a month or two ago. We have a full week of recovery and they play Thursday against United.
No chance of our imbeciles doing that. They know Brighton are a very good side. Way better than we are. But if they turn up with the same attitude as some of our fans, then they'll be beaten before they kick off.

Indeed. Nobody is saying otherwise.

What I am saying is there are points there to be fought for.

Coleman went out on his shield.

I have been a major critic of him over the last five years. He has been in terminal decline. But he was always courageous and brave. That was very sad last night, and probably a microcosm of what has happened to this once-great club.

Football doesn't exist in a time vacuum. Brighton are a better football club all around than Everton at the moment.

Wow, the arrogance!

Wow, what cowardice.

Nobody said that Brighton are not better than us in every way.

I said that there are points there to be competed for. But, hey, if you prefer we can just concede them before the game and not bother travelling.

We didn’t get beat. We played well. A mistake led to their goal, their first was a jammy slip and the penalty was a defender who we all know isn’t good enough for the Premier League. However, if you can’t win don’t lose. We have picked up 5 points now from draws,

Spurs at home
Chelsea away
Notts Forest away
Palace away
Leicester away

This is something Frank simply could not do. If we would have drew against Wolves, Southampton and Leicester at home then we would probably be okay now. Frank either won or lost and usually he lost.

We have to show that same fighting desire now at Brighton. Patterson in for Coleman, Mina or Coady in for Keane, Gray in for Iwobi. I still believe!!!COYB!

Coleman's loss is huge. Utterly huge.

Our attacking options took a real knock last night.

Patterson just cant step in there. He offered nothing at RB last night again. If he's going to be played then play him further up the pitch, because he cant bomb on like Coleman does and he cant offer anything in defence other than - at best - back off and off and allow an opposition forward to the edge of our area. He was still caught out of position again and again last night and jogging back as Leicester broke and he was on the halfway line.

We need that RB berth strengthened by someone or we'll be back peddling for 90 minutes again as we were in Coleman's absence before and after his injury.

Wow, what cowardice.

Nobody said that Brighton are not better than us in every way. There’s absolutely nothing I can do to affect Everton results.

Haha, cowardice.

I don’t play for Everton, so I’m not surrendering points.

I just expect Everton to not get anything from the game because they’re a good Premier League side and this is the worst Everton side I’ve ever seen.

Not at all. The Brighton side is very good indeed. But we cannot be waving the white flag at every small club having a good season when we have already waved the same flag at every big club and every medium-sized club and hope to stay up.

Objectively, Brighton will beat us. They have a better side than us. But we are not facing AC Milan circa 1989 here. We have a chance to get a point - or three. A small chance. But a chance, nonetheless. But in no world and I going to Brighton and quaking in my boots. We may well lose 5-0 there, but I wouldn't be writing that game off at all.

Wasnt talking about waving a white flag. But the brighton of years ago doesnt mean anything to the brighton we will face now. Might aswell say we face man city. I remember them with shaun goater and ian bishop.

I feel more positive in my outlook this morning after last night, but that standard must be maintained for the next four games and cutting out the silly mistakes, but it is still only one point and there is still plenty of work to do….let’s hope the players feel more confident after the performance
