Overall: our best form of the season has arrived just at the right time. The Newcastle game was dire, but before that, going to Palace and getting a point against a team flying, pummelling Leicester on their own ground and then annihilating THE form team in the league outside City on their own pitch has been sensational.

If we take that form into the last 3 games and keep our midfield fit then we have a massive chance. I fancy us over a hopeless Leicester and Leeds, for sure. And I'm convinced 1 more point gets us past Forest at the end of the season.
Those 2-2 draws at Forest and Leicester…… we could, perhaps should, have won at least one of them. Would have made a massive difference, we’d probably be safe right now.

I always look at stuff like that, that if we won, no one knows how the table and future results would have went, it could have made other teams that kept losing go and win etc - but the Foxes keeper saved them v us as much as he cost them yesterday via the 1st goal

Not sure if already been said.
But, I don't think Real are the type of team to go round kicking lumps out of City tonight. However, could do with them coming out with a 2.0 or similar win, perhaps to give Pep something to think over re: resting/limiting minutes to players on Sunday to ensure they hit the ground running in their home leg.

I don't see either team running away with it. I think it will be in the balance until the end of the second leg.

One game at a time still needs to be the focus.

We need to make it as difficult for City as possible and turn it into a battle. If they beat us fair enough, but make them earn the points. If they are off their game, then be ready to capitalise.

It's back in our own hands with 3 left, and 2 at home. We need to guard against any sort of complacency because this team have a tendency to go a bit overboard after a good result. We need to keep building, we've not achieved anything yet.
I think it's more the fans than the team to be fair. We just have to remember that we've been battling relegation for 2 years because we're not very good, and putting in one really good performance doesn't change that. There's sometimes a tendency for people to start claiming we've turned corners way before there's any evidence that we have, but I think the players and manager have been pretty good at acknowledging where we're up to this year. The last 3 games will still be tough for us but we've given ourselves a chance now and we just have to hope we can do enough to take it.

Nobody will want to play us on current form. Certainly City wont be expecting the walk over that they might have had a few months back. I dont expect to beat them, but I'm looking forward to us giving them a game next weekend.

I still think it comes down to the final game of the season, , and needing to beat Bournemouth to stay up, play like we did yesterday and we should be ok.

Our best performance of the season prior to yesterday had been the 3 nil against Palace. We went on an awful run of form after that match. We went like 4 months without a win either side of the WC.

We struggle with consistency because we are an average football team. Yesterday was a huge 3 points but it will count for little if we don't back it up with another result in the next 3 weeks

I don't think the scoreline or winner matters really (other than an absolute thumping), what we want more than anything is just for it to be a very hard game where City have to put a lot in to it.

Before Villa, I was looking with some predictions for the *brilliant* target of 42 points...

Villa (H) - 3 pts / RESULT 0 POINTS
Arsenal (A) - 0 / RESULT 0 POINTS
Forest (A) - 3 / RESULT 1 POINT
Brentford (H) - 1 / RESULT 3 POINTS
Chelsea (A) - 0 / RESULT 1 POINT
Spurs (H) - 1 / RESULT 1 POINT
Man U (A) - 0 / RESULT 0
Fulham (H) - 1 / RESULT 0
Palace (A) - 3 / revised to a more hopeful realistic 1 point / RESULT 1
Newcastle (H) - 1 / revised 0 / RESULT 0

UPDATE: 7 points out of my target of 13 points by this point. Now it looks like even 35 points might save us, so if we need 7 points from the next 5 games, we need 2 away wins in 5, and we have only had 1 win in the last 10. (I'm trying not to 'depend' on a final day win.

Leicester (A) - 3
Brighton (A) - 1
Man City (H) - 0
Wolves (A) - 3
Bournemouth (H) - 0

Amazing to get 4 points from last 2
Now we just need to win 1 out of the 3 in my opinion. Because Leeds & Leicester might not win any of their last 3 ! Lucky everyone is so bad.

….i recall Arsenal fans wanting us relegated after we beat them but are now thinking we might take something off City;

I said a while ago that if it came to that game and we needed to win, i fancy us big time, we have done well to even get to where we are having a chance considering the amount of rubbish we have gone through this season, not many could go through what we have and still be as close to getting safe as we are
