I don't think the scoreline or winner matters really (other than an absolute thumping), what we want more than anything is just for it to be a very hard game where City have to put a lot in to it.

I'm not sure tonight will make any difference because Pep is rotating 5-6 first choice players to manage this last part of the season. We'll get a good, motivated team whatever happens.
Foden has not played much, Alvarez is doing well again, the back 4 keep changing - I think though, at home, we might just might sneak a point with the momentum, confidence and power of the fans.

….i recall Arsenal fans wanting us relegated after we beat them but are now thinking we might take something off City;

I just have Piers morgan in my head after we beat them, saying they will win league and he hoped we went down, be good to see him wrong on both (Though i have no feeling either way who wins the league-many will want Arsenal to see a change etc)

Our best performance of the season prior to yesterday had been the 3 nil against Palace. We went on an awful run of form after that match. We went like 4 months without a win either side of the WC.

We struggle with consistency because we are an average football team. Yesterday was a huge 3 points but it will count for little if we don't back it up with another result in the next 3 weeks
Yes because we were still rubbish then, that's the point. The Palace game was an anomaly, I don't think the players downed tools after winning it, it was more just that fans kept harking back to it as if that had been the norm when it was very much the high watermark. Occasionally we will pull out a good performance and result but people then have a tendency to think they can do it whenever they want when the reality is very different.

2 more wins please

Personally the City game is a “free” hit in that no one expects anything. But there’s still pressure to not lose a significant amount on the goal difference.

Right now, if it was offered I’d take a hard fought 1-0 defeat, knowing our rivals still have games against Newcastle, Arsenal etc to come.

Obviously if we take anything from the game it’ll be massive, but weirdly now we’re watching City-Real tonight with a vested interest. Biggest disaster would be 5-0 to City.
I have a feeling we won’t be seeing De Bruyne or Haaland. They’ve still got an immensely strong side though.

He'll be rimming us and saying he always wanted us to stay up if we take points from City at the weekend. The guys a prize melt. Just look at his weird crush on Ronaldo.

Agree on this, what helps next week is yes we will most likely not win but Leeds and Leicester play Newcastle and Liverpool, so it should be as you were points wise

Was saying to my brother last night that I can easily see another mad result or two amongst those games. Got a weird feeling that Leicester will beat the reds and even possibly Forest get something from Arsenal. Think Leeds have another win in them as well..

4 more points for me should do it for us.

Take the effort levels, belief and desire they showed us last night and use it for the free hit versus city and then the rest of the games and we might surprise ourselves and others again.

Trouble is we are consistently inconsistent, and that’s been our undoing for a number of seasons - hopefully we can end that part of the Everton psyche for the rest of the season and rattle off some performances and good results - I would love us to be clear and safe come the final home game of the season and it’s in our hands if we want it - the players showed some balls yesterday and worked them off - 3 more finals lads, same again.

I don't really go along with the free hit thing, every game matters when you are 2 points ahead of the drop zone after 35 games. A 2 point lead is obviously a better position than being 1 point adrift that said.

It's an extremely difficult game, but taking something from that game would make a huge difference, even a point. Our target needs to be 4 points from 3 games. If City play at 95% or more of their best, they will more than likely beat us. But if they are off their game then who knows. We need to turn the game into a battle.

Every team fighting to stay up has a game I fancy them to win, Everton being plus two points gives us needing a draw against Wolves in flip flops and then goal difference.

Need one more win and I reckon that will come down to the Bournemouth game. If that’s the case then in our own hands and better than I thought it would be.
Yep. I think in all likely one more win and we are there.

It’s very hard to make a case for leeds or Leicester to win 2 out of 3 with the games they have left which they’d have to do if we win one. Can see them potentially winning one of them or a couple of draws.

The only agonizing thing is I think it’ll likely come down to the last day…and as we all know anything can bloody happen in football…var calls, red cards..Neal maupay…

Let’s go to wolves and put them to the sword and have a nice relaxing final day.

Thought I'd find something to quote after re-reading some of the pre-weekend game comments. It's not an unreasonable post because it's what, as Evertonians, we have come to expect, but it shows who's up for the fight and who's not.
I’m glad we won obviously. But as the result shows, anyone is capable of getting an out of the blue win. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves until we are mathematically safe.
