TBF they didn't look like they were in top form versus Leeds last week.

They were very lethargic.

Almost like they had sommat else on their mind.

And they still have :)
They were electric for the first half hour, could’ve scored five or six and Leeds were clueless but then they definitely thought it was job done and stopped playing.

If we can weather a few storms we could pinch something today if they and we are like last week.

We've managed to put ourselves on a pathway to survival. But a heavy defeat today - which would not be unexpected - will lower the mood here once more.

We're going to need another four points. That would put us on 36. Forest would then need to win one of their last two. Doable but difficult. Leicester would need two wins from their last three. Doable but very difficult. Leeds would, similarly, need to win both of their matches. Very difficult. We could even afford one of those three nightmare scenarios happening and still survive.

That's where I am at. I could see one of the three doing the needful above, but think two very unlikely. So, four points is my cut off. It means an agonising last day, though if we don't get them in the next six days and Leeds and Leicester stay within range.
It's all up in the air and changes weekly with each set of matches. it will do again. each point is so important. forest's yesterday was huge for them. 1 point for us today would be even bigger.

but the chances are we will be in the same position today on our current points and relying liverpool to turn up tomorrow. leicester are well capable of turning them over at home so I for one am not sitting comfortably .

People need to be realistic and expect absolutely nothing today. City cannot afford to slip up.

Everybody knows that they are now hitting top form and are on another planet currently to the majority of the PL.

Of course it would be fantastic to nick something, but I’d say it’s 99.9999% not happening.
Yeah, Evertonians are in danger of vacillating out of emotional control. The mercury is rising and plummeting week to week.

We're likely taking a tanking today. We cannot under any circumstances write the game off, but this really should not be a game that prompts despair later. People need to keep a grip on things. Two huge matches to follow. We're playing, arguably, the best team in the world today. Any kind of result would be hugely surprising.

What a nice boost going into a vital game to save ourselves. Being shown how little we mean to the council and the local organisers who had their input into the 'Liverpool Songbook' at that event last night.

We dont matter. We dont exist.

Thanks.

The funny thing about this thread is that people will post that today is a free hit and our target is the Wolves and Bournemouth games but then if we get beat later today the heads will fall off the very same people 🤷‍♂️
Those people dont matter. Not in my eyes. They are irrelevant. I dont even condsider them to be Everton supporters.

I don’t think we’re “likely taking a tanking” at all. Likely losing the game, probably yeah, but under no circumstances should we expect or accept getting battered.

You said we were already in the Championship.

What do you care what happens?

I don’t consider any game Everton play to be a free hit, we have earned the right to play in this league and to compete with every team in it. Having said that Man City are the best team in the league, up there with the best in the world and it will be extremely difficult for us to get any sort of result, but not impossible. Personally I will be surprised if we manage to beat them or even get a draw but what we can’t do is not compete.

Oh, anything less that total commitment is unacceptable.

But, let's be clear: our players have proven to be incompetent and, frankly, quite stupid in football terms. That's why we are fighting the drop. Any kind of positive result would be a monumental shock today. I'm certainly not ruling it out, but expecting anything other than a defeat is setting oneself up for a low mood later.

We're not playing a "big six" side who are hovering just outside the CL places. We are playing the best or second-best team in the world. I expect a monumental effort from our players - and a defeat.
