If we go down by a few points it’s firmly on the board and Moshiri for giving Lampard the Southampton and West Ham games, that really was an unforgivable dereliction of duty from those lazy incompetent cowards.
Anything after the second Bournemouth game, with the benefits the World Cup time would have given us in embedding a new manager’s philosophy would have had, is unforgivable

Brighton was the absolute final straw. There was absolutely no coming back from that, he should not have been in the job a single second after that whistle had gone. They let him go on for 3 more weeks while they hid in the shadows putting out fake headlock stories.

It’s all subjective isn’t it? At the time I saw a 7-1 aggregate drubbing to Bournemouth who were lower in the league at that time than they are now. We had six weeks where we could have got a new manager in, embedded their philosophy wit( the majority of the squad, and even agreed some loan targets for January (it would have avoided the need for the farce that was sacking a manager whilst at the same time attempting to get a signing over the line). We also had Wolves coming up who at that time were a proverbial six pointer. I just think there were too many indicators at that time to suggest that was when he should have gone….I think the subsequent home results to Wolves and Brighton sort of help to prove the point as well.

I think so much depends on Leeds and how many points they get. If they only get 1/2 it’s us in a great position, if they pull off 2 wins in the worst case scenario , that leaves them on 37, which means if Forest get a win from their last 2, we will have to win 2 of our final 3 games. Us winning 2 is unlikely in my opinion so hopefully Leeds don’t pull off 2 wins.

I agree he should’ve gone after Bournemouth with hindsight but I’m saying that there was no excuses for leaving him in after Brighton. It was cut and dry at that point, and nobody in the world thought he could bounce back after that. There’s some sort of logic to leaving him in over the World Cup break especially if you’re hoping to have new signings in early on in January. But there’s no justification whatsoever for leaving him in after the Brighton home game.

Nervous about Leeds playing Tottenham who have a shocking away record of late. Still battling for European places so that will keep them trying but all the same they are pretty awful at the moment. Then not sure which WHU will turn up for their other game

Yep I think that’s a valid point if you’re a fan, if you’re the board and know how much head room you have to sign players and whether you have to sell players - the board should have known in advance whether they could boost his playing staff enough to have given him a chance to improve his performance. With hindsight in terms of only seemingly attempting to get one player in on loan, and selling Gordon, I would speculate they knew January was not going to be busy so they were still left with the level of Lampard performance post transfer window as they were pre transfer window. I’m probably splitting hairs here though, we both agree he should have gone around that time!

My heart says we can win today, that would be massive in terms of us staying up and getting it done early, 3 points would put us above Forest and 4 points clear of Leeds, 5 points clear of Leicester which means Leicester will need 2 wins from Liverpool (H), Newcastle (A) and West Ham (A) with Leeds needing 2 wins because of GD from West Ham (A) and Spurs (H)....

My head says we probably get beat or we are capable of pulling off the same as we did at the Etihad and grab a point, which does still stregthen our hand slightly.

Confidence is high in the squad and if we can be as ruthless in front of goal as against Brighton then who knows, I`ve seen Pep crying it in this week regarding the timing and the schedule of games, I`d love more Everton if we were as successful. Isn`t that the price of success?

Perhaps we will see a rotated and off colour Man City, one thing they certainly won`t want is our players rattling in to them ahead of the Madrid game. We need Goodison to be at her absolute best, again if that happens then who know but both players and supporters need to leave it all out there today.

UTFT...................

Would add while we have to go in hard we have to go in fair and not put in an alehouse tackle that leads to a red card and suspension. We too have bigger (well smaller) fish to fry.

We saw how Doucoure's red card royally screwed us over and we don't need that situation for the games we ate more likely to win.
