It’s an interesting dilemma for them and their sports science people- what’s the % risk of losing a player to in game injury but also what % of sharpness does a player lose not playing for 17 days.

I reckon if their season had ended on Sunday there they’d probably be arranging a closed doors game for them to keep them ticking over as the gap is too big so they’ll probably want to get most first teamers on the pitch.

Obviously that wouldn’t be as full on as their game against Leicester, but then with so many Leicester players having an eye on their next day contract elsewhere they might not be flying into tackles either. That’s been a big part of their problem.
The ticking over thing is absolutely important yes, as you say you don’t want anything going stale over the couple of weeks without football (other than training) - someone posted before about the team Moyes selected in the final PL game of the season with us before the cup final 09 and and 9 of the players he chose started the cup final, so that may give us some insight. Slight difference now is that he is 14 years on in his career and still hasn’t won a trophy…he won’t get many more chances and they are playing a desparate team, so that may inform his thinking. I suspect he will play his strongest 11 at some point, to what extent he played them, whether starting or coming off the bench, it will keep them ticking over, will keep them competitive and will mitigate it a degree some risk of injury. We will soon find out!

It does take that one specific permutation (Leicester win, we draw) off the table but losing one permutation isn’t the end of the world. It certainly doesn’t make it as good a result as Leicester seemed to think it was.

To look at it another way, our result on Saturday has taken the draw off the table for either of them on Sunday so it has turned out to be an important point.

Exactly

To put it another way. Before the weekend we had 1 point lead over Leeds and 2 points over Leicester with two opportunities remaining for them to claw it back.

After the weekend we have a two point lead over both Leeds and Leicester and they’re down to their final opportunity to make it back.

If they both draw on the weekend we’re safe regardless of what happens. The possible permutations for them staying up are low in number.

Regardless of the results I hope kenwright doesn't get sentimental and attend the game because it will create an unnecessary distraction also even if we survive people are going to pounce on him like it's night of the living dead so its best he just plays with his trains in London. Do not advocate violence in any aspect whatsoever ,just his presence could cause some mass chiding at his expense in the best case scenario

Using what's happened earlier in the season to forecast how things are going on Sunday is like a broken pencil. Pointless. It's all about sunday and how the teams perform on the day. A penalty, a red card, a bad backpass or a offsidetrap that does't work, can/will be a deciding factor.

I also don't agree that the pressure is on Leicester and Leeds. They have nothing to lose and I'm sure both teams will push hard for a early goal to really push pressure on us. I'm pretty confident that Leeds don't have the quality to win by 3 goals against Spurs. I'm more worried by Leicester. So, come on you "hammers".

We, on the other hand, have everything to lose, and it's going to be interesting to see how we start the game. If things start to go wrong for us at the other arenas, it will influence how we play. The fact that we have 2 more points will give us a slight advantage. That, together with 100% effort from the team and 100% effort from the fans (as always), and the town will be painted blue come sunday afternoon. But, as usual with this club, it's going to be close. COYB

we will probably cr ap ourselves and not even really play... get battered by the better team ... and disappear with a whimper... standard!!

However i hope we come out fighting show how we really can play, play players in their proper positions, and give Bournemouth a good game! Last home game of the season, least our fans deserve after the dross of the last couple years...

Given the gravity of the situation, you do wonder how the crowd would react to a mistake, a slip, an own goal, a clumsy tackle, an under hit pass from one of our own players, especially the later in the game it gets.

You also then wonder how our lions can handle that sort of pressure.

Let us hope we get a early goal.

Wouod not be a shock if he was at the game for me always about him. But agree before and during the game all thw board stuff will be put away so we can push the team on to the finish line. With us hopefully staying up then can do whatever after the game, but i just want all of us fans to then start pushing this board for answers
