I0 days before a final is perfect recovery time. He won’t want his side undercooked. He won’t risk someone with a niggle. Perhaps Zouma won’t play but it will be pretty much their best side
Unless you get a significant injury, it’s not always about tiredness and recovery time, but it’s also about risk of injuries to players playing against a team at home who will be desparate…these same risks existed in Sunday against Leeds but may have been accounted for an off set against 1) a longer recovery period and 2) last celebratory home game in front of their fans (if it was Rice’s last game he would want to say goodbye).

Looking at West Ham PL position currently they could jump two places if they win and Chelsea, Wolves lose, or they could drop a place if they lose and Bournemouth win (for those that get high on permutations) so there is some justification for him playing a strong team based on those potential PL placing consequences.

I guess, everything we are discussing will be going through Moyes considerations alongside how well they train this week.

Not sure we're in any position to be diminishing any team that is achieving European football at the moment. Doing far, far better than we are.

Anyway, some nicely cherry-picked stats that might help some feel better:

  1. Dyche record vs Bournemouth is 6W 2D 3L
  2. Everton record vs Bournemouth at Goodison since 2015 is 5W 1L
  3. Bournemouth have lost every game since their safety was confirmed
I'm not diminishing West Ham. I just don't rate the 3rd ranked Euro competition.

Thing is, even if Leicester had lost I’d not have been confident about the draw being enough. Three times in recent games Spurs have gone to absolute bits after conceding a goal, if you have to win a game by three clear goals I think they’re a side you’d choose to be up against.

The draw is almost a non-factor for us now as the two point cushion means it’s only better than a loss specifically if Leeds win by one or two and Leicester don’t win. But the more important thing is it’s a total non factor for the other two and you’d rather they have one result to play for rather than two.
Maybe.

I'd rather take my chances on getting draw + Leeds needing to win by 3, than needing to win if Leicester win.

Let's hope we get win + it's all academic.

It’s an interesting dilemma for them and their sports science people- what’s the % risk of losing a player to in game injury but also what % of sharpness does a player lose not playing for 17 days.

I reckon if their season had ended on Sunday there they’d probably be arranging a closed doors game for them to keep them ticking over as the gap is too big so they’ll probably want to get most first teamers on the pitch.

Obviously that wouldn’t be as full on as their game against Leicester, but then with so many Leicester players having an eye on their next day contract elsewhere they might not be flying into tackles either. That’s been a big part of their problem.

Interesting stories that have surfaced that give me positivity:

Bournemouth are safe and may play fringe players

Bournemouth fans hate Leeds

Leicester fans believe West Ham is and always will be their bogey side

Both sets of fans think we won't drop points at home
