Spot on.

The fans of other clubs around us must have said after we got a draw against City "Everton look organised; they'll be safe enough".

From Leicester down the quality is appalling. Us included. Any of those eight clubs could take the bottom three places. Leicester and West Ham probably have better squads...but that's what they said about us last season and we struggled until the second to last game to get clear.
I think it is natural to be more pessimistic about your own club but I do see more reasons for optimism for fans of the other clubs in the mix.

What really concerns me is if we are going to get out of this we will need an unexpected win or two. I don’t see any evidence that we have that in us. We have had 3 wins against Southampton, West Ham and Palace. I think a number of the other teams down there can put in a big performance every now and then

And if we are relying on some of these players linked, likes of Elanga, lads with no goal record, we truly are goosed.

It’s painful how little creativity we have in midfield, there’s no goals at all from that centre midfield.
Look at that lad at Leeds tonight Gnota. £3.8m. These players are out there but we are not setup to find them

A win could take us to 13th tomorrow if other results go our way.

We literally need two attackers into this club to blast away from the drop zone.

The problem is that Lampards comments about “competition” it looks like he is resigned to attracting a certain level of player. Ones which may not go straight into the team.

Thank goodness Villa held on.

That's a boost of sorts going into the game tomorrow.

…weird watching that game abroad with mainly Leeds fans but they looked much the better team. Saying that, they did that last season but lost games they looked like winning. Villa look ordinary but are accumulating points.

Ultimately it’s about what we do. We need to win 6 or 7 games to give us a chance. Amazing what back-to-back wins do when you think about that target.

Agree with all that.

And as you imply: if Lampard had set up more securely against 'lesser' teams we'd have had at least another 5 points to show for by now.

The survival is very doable...but we need reinforcements up front.

I'm not really that pro Frank either but a bit more of a realist. I'd still sack him, but can see some sense in him staying.

We need something up front. I know you dont like him, but if we kept DCL fit (which we wont) he makes a big difference. Nobody can sign better than what he brings if hes right, and we cant. I watched the lad Wolves bought for 50m or whatever, and honestly not for me.

But yes it's a gamble, and the club have to gamble and hope something is right. Everyone is gambling. In unflavoured players, or players that are young etc. I see people kicking off about Southampton, the fella is 30, has 2 in 27 for Croatia, and has never played in a league that is as good as the championship. Maybe he comes good, but it's a gamble.

I'll be honest mate, I think 4 will do it. We draw about 1/3 of games so that is 6/7 points. If we win 4, thatbgets us 19 points. By the looks of this season, with our goal difference, 34 points will be enough.

Apart from last season is been closer to 29.

Why did Lopetegui go to Wolves? De Zerbi to Brighton? Emery to Villa?
Because they all want to manage in the PL.

I do agree though, I don’t think they will consider him, it will be the same recycled names.

This season I really do believe we aren’t getting out of it.

He was out of work, Brighton were in the top 6 and he was out of work? Villa and Wolves have money to spend. We have no money to spend and an awful squad.

Did you think last season we wouldnt get out of it?

We may not, but to me theres 8 awful teams. We are one of them. They're your odds. Tarkowski, Coady and Pickford are probably the best back 3 of the 8 teams. We have little else though.

It's fair mate, but Wolves have signed a lad with 6 goals in about 45 games. Southampton have signed one who's never played in a league better than the Croatian league, which is below the championship. Nobody is signing real quality. We are all gambling.
