He was out of work, Brighton were in the top 6 and he was out of work? Villa and Wolves have money to spend. We have no money to spend and an awful squad.

Did you think last season we wouldnt get out of it?

We may not, but to me theres 8 awful teams. We are one of them. They're your odds. Tarkowski, Coady and Pickford are probably the best back 3 of the 8 teams. We have little else though.
But you just said Marcelino wouldn’t come even though he is out of work?

Yes I did, and it goes without saying I hope I’m wrong but we are clearly worse than last season.

At the minute there’s a few down there but I think come April/May time, the better sides will have points on the board. At the minute I’d have it between us, Bournemouth, Forest and Southampton. They’re the four worse sides.

It's fair mate, but Wolves have signed a lad with 6 goals in about 45 games. Southampton have signed one who's never played in a league better than the Croatian league, which is below the championship. Nobody is signing real quality. We are all gambling.
I think you’re right especially in January.

But there’s no way we can carry on with a side that has 14 goals to its name.

I get your point about dcl, but we can’t trust him to stay fit

He is out of work, but the question was relating to those. We are not an attractive prospect currently.

If so, I would posit that it's probably not as bad again.

On the 3rd, I dont see it really. West Ham fans think they are the worst. Wolves at Goodison were poor and got lucky, and would be bottom without that lucky win. Currently all 8 teams arent great.

I'd say Wolves are probably the only ones who look like they may push upwards, but they need to start doing it soon.

I get your point about Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but we can’t trust him to stay fit

But again, how many goals have Wolves got? Who you're saying are definitely safe?

We need more goals, but we also need to tighten up again. For the first third of the season we were ok, mainly on the basis of being tight defensively.

If we can do that, and keep Dom fit we stay up. But its 2 huge ifs.

Wolves are not definitely safe, it’s just a prediction. They are playing well, they have that thing about them where you know they are going to get a result where people wouldn’t expect them to, like last week, let’s face it they were robbed at anfield. We will probably go there and roll over as is our annual tradition.

If we are needing 6/7 wins from our last 20, well something has to change massively because we have won 1 in 12. The numbers don’t lie, something has to change.

Yes maybe mate, but even that game, like Allisson threw 2 in his net. I dont think they played any better than us at OT.

I also don't think we need 7 wins. It looks like 32 to stay up, which with our GD is probably 32. We have drawn about 1/3 of games, so that's 7 points. We probably need 4 wins. I dont want it to be that close, but that's probably what it needs. I think it will come down to that too.

It wont be 40 to stay up. Seasons its ended up lower than 30.

Doms bumper season was based on decent service from James and Digne and with Richarlison as a foil. The supply line is gone. He will not create goals for himself. He is a 6 yard box player

Yes very fair. And hes not the same player or as good either. But I think, even 75% fit hes miles better than what we have, and frankly what most of the sides down there have or could sign.

Even last week, it's a really good goal. They will be scruffy goals, but he will find ways to bundle them in.

What did he say about competition?

We have no cash. That's obvious. Hard to know what hes meant to say really.

When he was asked about transfers, he said that January is not the best window and he had to work within certain parameters, but the club was looking for players to add competition in the forward places. That may mean nothing but it implies, in my opinion, that he’s already conceded that he will not be able to attract players who will go straight into the first team. It suggests he’s worried that he will only be able to afford / attract 1-2 players of the calibre we already have.

The problem is that Lampards comments about “competition” it looks like he is resigned to attracting a certain level of player. Ones which may not go straight into the team.
I thought his point is that we need only players that will immediately improve us? ?‍♂️
