Imagine someone who hasn’t been following us for 18 months.

‘So how is James Rodriguez getting on’?
- Ah we gave him away.
‘Wow. Well at least you have Richarlison’
- Nah, sold him.
‘Gordon must have really stepped up then?’
- Yeah looked promising but we sold him too.
‘You must have spent big on forwards then?’
- We brought in Neil Maupay and Dwight McNeil. Oh and Andros Townsend.

‘Jesus Christ. At least you still have Gylfi’
- Erm..
All valid points. But, playing devil's advocate, what are James Rodriguez, Richarlison, and Anthony Gordon doing now? Truth is, even our so-called good players don't consistently pull up trees elsewhere. Richi, much as he's a good lad and a decent player, is now a permanent substitute at a club that will do well to make the top four. James is clearly in retirement. Gordon is heading for oblivion. A bit like us. As Moyes rightly and ironically said, "not too many go on to greater things after leaving Everton". In summary, one reason we are crap is because those playing for us are...crap. It all comes back to recruitment. And, as you say, even when we get rid of our fool's gold, we only seem to buy tin. Leeds will rag us at the weekend and the penny will finally drop for many. Riots at Goodison by April.

We beat Leeds under bielsa 3-0 with the most incompetent manager in our history. Bielsa’s Leeds were supposed to be the most energetic and pressing side in the league. I think people are giving Leeds way too much credit. What’s their away record like this season?

Won at Liverpool, got a 0-0 at Newcastle and drew with Man. United recently so not terrible.

It's still a very winnable game though.

Problem is when you're never scoring more than one goal I think the Villa, Brentford and Fulham home games are all going to be very difficult to win so I think getting past 25 points going into last 8 games of the season is going to take quite some effort tbh.

They also lost 1-0 to Forest earlier this month who have a -20 goal difference

They are very inconsistent

My wife and I are expecting our first child this summer. I’ve been praying like crazy we stay up for next season. I know the baby won’t know any better if we stay up or go down. I’ll do my best to raise it supporting Everton but maybe it will follow its uncles and support Man U. Let’s pray that’s not the case. I just don’t hope it doesn’t shun me some day for causing so much pain and misery for introducing them to Everton.

Even though that was particularly painful tonight, we are Still up 3 points from the two games played from where I thought we would be - could have easily been 6 if we wanted it, but the pinkies wanted it more.

Seems we need the home fans to get us out the crap again with these players who can’t be trusted to get themselves safe,

Mazel tov!

We have scored more than one goal on two occasions this season. Crystal palace and Southampton. How does the club not sign a striker in January? Were gone. Theres zero goals in this team. Why bring in Maupay if hes not even playing? Hes played a combined 86 minutes in his last four premier league games. In comparison to the two below us and Leeds our defense is great, but look at the goals scored.

We scored 43 goals in the prem last season and escaped relegation by 4 points and had a 4 goal differential with 18th placed Burnley. To be on par with last season we would have to score 1.68 goals a game until the end of the season and have to win at least 7 more games. Where do we get 7 wins from?

Games to play
Leeds
Villa
Arsenal
Forest
Brentford
Chelsea
Spurs
United
Fulham
Palace
Newcastle
Leicester
Brighton
City
Wolves
Bournemouth

Sadly if we go down we will become an irrelevance as a club and future generations will simply support other clubs.

How much coverage do the lower league clubs get compared to the Prem teams? Very little.

The last three away Merseyside derby matches I attended before last night were as follows: the first 4-0 debacle under Martinez in 2014, the second 4-0 debacle under Martinez in 2016 and our 5-2 defeat at Anfield just before the pandemic.

We rarely get anything there. Their crowd is like a 12th man and our players go to pieces.

Our players went to pieces away at Bournemouth twice in a week. Last night was just a continuation of woeful away form.

Encouraging your child to support Everton is an act of abuse.
