I was workin it out this week if we get 9 out of the next 4 games wich is a big ask it still only puts us on 27 points it hit me just ow short we are so far this season
Nope. Continue your working out and apply it to the remaining 11 games or 33 points at stake having achieved a laudable 9 out of the next 4 games as you proposed. Put it another way, sitting on 27 pts with 33pts to play for gives every reason for optimism. I know the pessimists on here hold the ground but all is far from lost despite the gloom and doom propagated by some ranging from the ludicrous we are down if we lose to Leeds.

People are getting their excuses in early as to why half a season won’t be enough to not relegate us.

Yes, this is the prescient point here. While it is true that defeat on Saturday does not mathematically relegate us - far from it with, what, 15 matches to play afterwards - anybody thinking we can absorb yet another home loss to a direct rival and expect to survive is utterly deluded. We got out last year because we had players like Richarlison to come up with the goods and because Burnley were feeble. This time, we have no Richarlison - and worse, no forward worth the name to replace him - and so defeat now would be worse than even the loss at Burnley last season. That could be attributed to mad tactics by a useless manager. Defeat to this Leeds side is likely to be because we simply cannot match them for goals. Tactics are rectifiable. A lack of goals is a much harder issue to fix.

Make no mistake: we have to win on Saturday to give ourselves a better than even chance of staying up. Anything less and we should expect to drop even if we have a significant part of the season to play.

A lot of truth in that, but think we are already better than Even chance of staying up with the bookies.

If we win, it would be huge. Could be as much as a 75% chance of staying up. I dont think there will be more than 3-4points between us and Leeds, so it is a very big game.

If we win, I think we stay up, and they collapse.

I didn't realise but I just checked and we stayed up by 9 points last year which I find incredible.
Their were many occasions when I thought we were gone particularly the night we lost to Burnley but somehow we managed to win 4 games after that.
What breaks my heart is that we had Richarlson then who was always capable of a bit of magic but this year he will be sitting on the bench at Spurs purely because the incompetent clowns running the club were unable to understand basic mathematics and fell foul of the rules of FFP.
I think we are gone this time but on a positive note I have felt that 3 times before but we have survived.
We need to win tomorrow this game could be the decider regards our future In the premier league but if we lose then the Villa game becomes the decider.

It was only 4 points

Can't have been 9 points. Palace was the penultimate match

Liverpool did play well, we were missing Dominic Calvert-Lewin who is vital to our system, we tried the kid up front and it failed, we looked nervous, for whatever reasons we played badly and we lost. Any game is important but considering the Arsenal bonus win and that Leeds only picked up 1 against United, I would say we are in a better position than we were before, so lets stay positive. This next game is much bigger, if we dont get a win over these relegation competitors here we are making life very difficult for ourselves since we are the ones in the bottom 3 for the moment and the pressure is on us. safe to say I am bricking it
My sentiments exactly.

Huge day for us. Lose and it looks really grim and hard to see us staying up. Win and it puts us right in the fight with Leeds and West Ham and probably pulls in a couple of others. This is the type of scenario where we have not been able to win over the last 2 seasons. I am thinking Burnley 6 pointer last season and the recent West Ham, Southampton and Wolves games. I wonder how badly the RS have dented our confidence

Even if we win I fail to see where we pick enough points up, the lack of goals will be what sends us down... I did a prediction table looking at our remaining fixture, can only see us getting to 34 points including 3 today......

Leeds H Win 1-0
Villa H Draw 1-1
Arsenal A Lose 2-0
Forest A Draw 1-1
Brentford H Win 2-1
Chelsea A Lose 2-0
Spurs H Lose 2-1
Man Utd A Lose 3-0
Fulham H Win 2-1
Crystal Palace A Draw 1-1
Newcastle H Lose 2-1
Leicester A Lose 3-1
Brighton A Draw 1-1
Man City H Lose 3-1
Wolves A Lose 2-1
Bournemouth H Win 2-1
= W4 D4 L8 F17 A26 Points16

Tough tough fixtures.... I think I`m mentally preparing for the worst, poor result today will pretty much confirm what I`m thinking.
