Take them goals out and we "drop" 9 points, it's not just he scored 10 goals, he scored massive goals in massive games.

He really was irreplaceable for us, but to replace someone like Richy with someone like McNeil ( who's been ok under dyche ) who has a track record of being a very poor scorer is just one of many reasons we are were we are.

Che Adams usually plays best with a targetman. Scored plenty at Birmingham alongside Lukas Jutkiewicz and been o.k for Scotland when paired with Dykes. So I guess the thinking was him and DCL would work well together.

He's average in premier league but would be a better fit to lead the line than Maupay although I accept that's a very very low bar.

Who thought we would beat Chelsea and Man Utd at home, beat Leicester away and win with 10 men against Newcastle but lose to Brentford at home, lose to Burnley away and draw with Watford away in the run in to last season and that’s not even including the miracle of Goodison when we were 2-0 down at home to palace in our final home game and came back to score 3 second half goals to win the game to guarantee safety with a game to spare.

Spot on. Better teams than us have gone down and not bounced right back; some not for many years. We'll be the "big scalp" in the second division, every team will want to beat us and probably try that little bit harder than with other fixtures.

There is still a lot of physical and mental fragility in this side, I wonder how many players will be ready for the fight one level down. Then add in an incompetent board who don't know what they're doing at the best of times in a league they have no experience of and it is not a pretty picture as some may make out.

It's like when Newcastle went down (the first time), got turned over by the likes of Scunthorpe because they were bang up for it scalping 'the big club'. We'd meet the same sort of resistance, cup final every week for teams like Preston.
