Biggest mistake was signing McNeil and Maupay for £15 million each instead of spending £30 million on a striker. Other than that I think we've spent fairly well. We're solid at the back, we don't get overrun in midfield like we did. However our creativity is sadly lacking. We desperately need a couple of scrambled wins, but we need to be careful not to try and force the issue by throwing numbers forward due to lack of quality up front, as most PL teams will hit you on the counter.
Which striker would you have signed for your £30m?

Frustrated and concerned at the moment. All I wanted this season was a nice boring mid table slog. Didn’t expect a push for Europe but it also would have been nice to be comfortably above the relegation zone too. These next 4 games are absolutely crucial. Not enough points from those and we are in a lot of trouble.

At the end of the day, Lampard alongside Thelwell signed off on bringing in Dwight McNeil over getting a striker we badly, badly needed.

He willingly went into the season relying solely on an injury prone Dominic Calvert-Lewin to somehow stay fit and score not only a decent number of goals, but also an additional 10/15 to replace what we lost in Richarlison.

I've never seen such a meek and, to be honest, pathetic attempt to put pressure on the board to get him the striker he needed in the summer. The furthest Lampard was prepared to go was to say "everybody knows the positions we need strengthening in".

If he had a bit more about him he'd have told the truth and said we almost went down with Richarlison available, and if we don't adaquately replace him we'll be staring down the barrel this season.

Most other managers, knowing a relegation battle is almost a certainty unless they got a replacement in, would have been shouting it from the rooftops.

So back to my first paragraph; Lampard signed off on this and is all also very much to blame for the upcoming fight against relegation.
I’m sure Lampard did everything you said behind closed doors. He doesn’t come off as the type to piss and moan in front of the press, which I’m sure he knows full well wouldn’t do him any good or make the situation better.

That's not my job! However somebody whose job it is should be able to sign a better striker for £30 million than £15 million

Thing is, a look at the transfers completed in the window doesn't show much in the way of any like deals being completed. Gakpo might've been an option but his eyes are on a better placed club now.

Broja? A big gamble for more than the 20 million + addons offered by other clubs, maybe Costa on a free (+ big wages).

Others disagree but I maintain decent PL forwards are rare beasts.

6/7 points from next three games will do very nicely. Very realistic aswell if today's 90 minute performance can be replicated.

Worth remembering though that Forest have already been written off and relegated by 95% of people. Their fantastic win today and it was just a points difference at kick off from team that started 20th today.

Normally table takes shape after 10 games and significant points gaps start to develop but there's barely anything in the league this season from about 8th down so no-one can predict a bottom three currently.

World cup in the middle will also add another dynamic and possibly favour teams with not many players in that tournament.

Performance was magnificent today. As a lot of people said these next 4 games are crucial to where we will ultimately finish. One down today with much aplomb. 3 more to go and my sheets will be a little bit drier come the World Cup.
