Relegation 23/24 Thread

I am hoping that we can now focus on getting 7-9 points as quickly as possible.
The players and supporters have been under a cloud since February knowing this second charge was hanging over us and the anxiety was palpable at Goodison on Saturday and not helped by the football on show.

It’s still in our hands and this latest sanction has upset a lot of us that it should provide a catalyst for a febrile atmosphere for our remaining home games. The game against Forest needs to have the collective vindictiveness of Evertonians aimed solely at the opposition and officials.

I would love it if we went to Luton already safe thus peeing on the PL/Sky’s chips…I need a lie down and to take my medication.

Did you think we would win at Brighton last season?
Tbf that was the only real surprise in the run in last year and luckily went in our favour.

You could easily see forest pulling out a result somewhere but for them and luton to do so is a tall ask.

Dust settled a bit this morning and I am sort of relieved it was “only” two points.

I feel a massive weight has been lifted off my shoulders (for this season anyway) and I am sure everyone employed at EFC is feeling the same way.

We can now concentrate on getting the 7 or 8 points which I think will see us over the line.

And those points are there to be had in the home games versus Forest, Bees, Blades and in the game away to Luton.

Luton are at City this weekend…Forest host City the week after they play us.

If City win both those games our task becomes less dificult as matches for those two teams are fast running out.

I think we all agree we need to be safe before going to Arsenal.

Let’s hope our guys can make it so.

I agree that the uncertainty hanging over the club for most of this season must have been very disruptive to the players and the entire club... how could it not be?

This was a situation involving their workplace where their futures are at stake.

At least the task now is clear.

I agree with everything except your penultimate paragraph.

Dyche only plays one way. Where is your evidence to suggest otherwise?
There isn't many examples, but he has changed it up in the past. Villa away in the league Cup for example. No risk game that we expected to lose. He went 3 at the back with wingback to cause them a problem. I didn't expect that. He did the same away at Burnley too after we have won 3 on the bounce. No chance he's doing that in a relegation scrap game but when there's not more to lose I still have some hope that he can change style occasionally.

I'll be ashamed of these players if they cannot get stuck into the enemy - Nottingham Forest - and rip them to shreds. Forest have, basically, tried to relegate us, and their machinations have succeeded to some extent. Vengeance will be ours!

It does actually feel like, for probably the first time this season, we actually know where we stand and what we need to do now. Hopefully the players feel that too.

Or the same, or a point or two worse! Both of those let in very soft goals, so hopefully we can manage it.

I think a point a game does it, id be fairly confident - however that comes......

My concerns would be the Forest, Mordor and Brentford games - i dont think we have massive depth to manage those games in quick turn around and we've looked jaded when we have had to at other times in the season.

My other concern is we could be playing clubs, who are happy to give us the ball - we struggle with a lack of quality in the team with that.

But its a duke fest plain and simple, i was glad Dyche called out the attitude in the first half Vs Burnley - that worried me, that needs to be rectified and to be fair we were better second half.

The games versus Chelsea, Vermin and Arsenal are "free hits", expected defeats for me, if we get something out of them, then superb.

But the other 4 games are what will make or break this whole thing.

Luton away is a tough game, will be a real battle there, but the 3 "easier" home games we need to be getting the 9 points we need and there can be no excuses.

Will be touching cloth if we don’t beat forest or Brentford at home. Need to win both of them and not lose away to Luton.

Yeah there's principle and then there's reality. Uncertainty is lifted, we know what we need to do now
