I have been thinking that myself.

IMO this season will break the record for the lowest points total needed for safety.

If we were deducted 12 points in the morning we would be 7 points from safety.

Given the standard of the bottom three I think that is doable.

Next season they will be replaced by Leicester and probably Leeds.

It will be hard to make up 12 points from scratch next season IMO.
Lot can change but as of today we are on 38 point pace and 18th is only on 19 point pace. A lot would depend on the psychological reaction from the players but the numbers say we COULD at least have a fighting chance of surviving a 12 point deduction. I highly doubt the punishment will be the maximum requested though, even if that story was true.

You are right that next year will probably be a tougher year in the league and that may be something that needs to be borne in mind if there’s a possible lengthy appeals procedure.

Need to be smart against Burnley to keep players fresh for Brighton.

A good chance of being 7/8 points clear of 18th if we win on Saturday.

Would I accept a mid-week win and a draw against Brighton? I don't think so, because let's be honest we're not winning the competition or getting to the final.

It would be nice to go on a good cup run to build confidence, but we all know as soon as we get tough draw we're out - and this season is all about staying up anyway.

Our squad is tiny and we can ill afford an injury to Pickford, Branthwaite, Tarkowski, or DCL.

And although I disagree with a lot of Dyche's quips, he's absolutely right that we need to show consistency and get the results that our play has deserved.

Brighton are a good side, but they can be had as long as the manager doesn't play his favourites and put us massively at a disadvantage from the off. No Young, no Keane, no Gueye, although thankfully it seems the penny has dropped for the latter.

Same team as today against Brighton, but big changes against Burnley with Young, Keane, Danjuma, Gueye, Dobbin and Beto coming in please.

Wasn't Villa a tough draw?

We are 5 points clear of the relegation zone already so the likelihood is we could withstand even 6 points deducted- we’d only need to be two points better than those three teams over 28 games when we’ve been 5 better after 10. The maths would still be in our favour.

12 points would be very very tough but that would be an unbelievably extreme punishment.
1 point penalised would be a travesty and should not be accepted without fight. The PL witch hunt needs to be repelled.
