Yep he got Cunha in Jan for a big eventual fee. Dyche was was given nothing and we sold our most valuable asset. The club were preparing for relegation as it feels we are again with the late sales of Gray and Iwobi with no replacements
I think deep down that we are marginally better on the attacking side of the team but that can change very quickly with injuries. On the defensive side we depend very much on the potential and the quick development of branthwaite as well as luck in the injury department. Saying that, we are competing against worst teams at the bottom than last season which give me some level of confidence that we should at least finish 17th this season.

The figures don’t add up at all though. The Cunha fee came out this summer, and has been offset by selling Nunes and Neves for a combined £110m. Yet they’ve somehow included that fee as part of the January spend, it’d be the same as us including the Beto fee for this summer. They spent a little bit in January but nowhere near £75m.
They provided him with a £40m player in January. It doesn't matter when the bill is paid. However you choose to dress it up he was a permanent signing as it was an obligation.

Even if you choose to ignore that signing he stil had £35m of new signings. To say he had no money isn't correct.

I assume you won’t be saying we’ve spent no money this summer then, seeing as we’ve been provided with a £30m player in Beto? We would also have to add the values of Danjuma and Harrison to that as well. So he really has run out of excuses.

Lopetegui took the Wolves job when they were bottom of the table with no money, and the job he did there was far, far more impressive than the job Dyche has done here.
Thats not true at all, they bought 4 players in January, and then got Cunha on loan with obligation to buy. They spent 35m and brought in 5 new players, we brought in 0 new players, and sold one for 40m. Thats 75m/6 player swing in the backing. They also had spent 118m in the summer buying players.

That’s like us using Onana, McNeil and Garner as Dyche signings because we signed them the previous summer.

And be replaced by who?
Bottom of the table and no money who in their right mind would take the job.
We need to start to think out of the box a bit more. Our mantra has been needs PL experience 🤷‍♂️ does it need to be so. A decent manager should be able to get the best out of people it's their job. Now if we were looking for coaches and not managers then let's face it we've failed for the last 20yrs

Personally I think we are a long way from thinking about replacing him - he's probably a good appointment for the situation we find ourselves in

Having said that, when we next appoint a manager, I'd like, for once, for the DoF to be given the remit here as, as with players, a manager does not need to have managed in this league/country before to be competent. There are plenty of coaches around Europe who would do a decent job, but we won't ever expand our horizons until the dinosaurs who have been inputting into the process remove themselves from it.

Think we're in better shape (on paper at least) compared to last season when you also factor in that the bottom 3 is going to be less 'competitive' this time. Cautiously optimistic that we'll go on to do enough this season to keep our necks just above again.
