Relegation 23/24 Thread

We are in midst of the perfect storm at the moment.

Uncertainty over the ownership and leadership, a tactically inept manager who can't inspire or motivate the players, poor quality players who are low on confidence, poor form and no money. Add in the prospect of another points deduction and this is a bleak, bleak time.

It's unbelievable we aren't a cert for a spot in the bottom three.

Indeed.

Haven’t won a match for three months…lost the last three in a row…six points deducted…and still we ain’t in the relegation spots.

Only possible because of the sheer awfulness of the teams below us.

Pardon my ignorance.

That “table” sounds like jargon to me.

What is it pointing to?

Thank you.
It tries to take into account the difficulty of the fixtures. A team gains points on this table if they get any points away from home or if they get any points against “Big 6” teams (home or away). They lose points on it if they drop points at home to non “big 6” teams (The person running that account calls them “The Other14”).

It mirrors the final league table after the last game so it’s not perfect but it’s interesting to know where you stand at the moment.

Only six teams in this league (we ain’t one), the rest are just making up the numbers.

Brentford, Brighton and Bournemouth are having their greatest periods in their history in fairness.

West Ham fans moan everytime at Moyes he dosen't win a game but ultimately this is the third season running they have made at least the QF of a european competition, again something they've never done before in their history.

Villa on course to make European cup for first time since 1982.

Newcastle fell back this season but inevitable with how they're being run they'll go back up the table this season. Also played a cup final last year.

Nothing worse than stagnating in any league and regardless of survival this season this 777 lot sound like a bit of a chancer consortium so I doubt the issues just evaporate as soon as the final whistle sounds on 23/24.

It makes me laugh that a case is made for Dyche that without the points deduction we’d be mid table. We are shockingly bad. Almost every season one team goes into freefall and gets relegated. I remember Norwich away back in about’95 being 5th or 6th in December and they went into free fall and were relegated. That table doesn’t lie.
Even the maniacs have stopped peddling that line now, it's now a case that the players are so terrible that Dyche is defying gravity simply by losing by only one or two goals each match.

For an increasingly tiny group of apologists there is no depths we can sink to that would result in any responsibility for Dyche. It's baffling.

Hoping for what, 4 wins from 9 games? A much greater win % than our current 8 games in 29, and all of those 8 wins gained when we didn’t have the worst form in the league, over a pretty significant sample period.

We do look like that team. Can’t score, leaking goals, crazy unforced mistakes and can’t buy a decision off a ref. No longer playing quite well and inexplicably losing. Playing awful and losing. Will likely be looking for 4 in 8. Sick of hearing about our points per game over the whole season. Those 4 games a complete anomaly. Massive week. Terrifying. Dyche absolutely believes we will survive. “Of course.” Some statement that.

If it wasn’t for relegation possibly meaning administration for us, I wouldn’t care. Would it be worse than being a perennial relegation candidate and watching this crap?

Probably would but just getting fed up now.

Every team down there is needing a huge upturn in form to stay up though, that’s kind of how relegation battles work and is how they’ve always worked. Luton have won 5 in 30 and Forest 6 in 30. If you’re in the bottom 6 at this stage of the season then it’s because you’ve not won many games, it’s a non-negotiable. We’re competing against teams with even worse records and worse win rates than ourselves so I don’t get this logic.

I'm not trying to alarm everyone and create mass panic and hysteria, but if we carry on like this we're going to get relegated.

I wouldn't for one minute rely on us staying up due to other teams being worse than us. We're the worst team in the league. Our form is the worst. People need to get their head around that. Plus we might get more points deducted 🤷‍♂️

Dyche isn't the answer.
