Not buying any talk Palace will have switched off or will mail it in tonight. They are on 37, which isn’t safe. Yes, they will get the points needed at some point but it is motivation to get them tonight and have nothing to worry about.

Plus 9-15 is tightly cramped and there will be a lot of pride in finishing top half. Palace will feel they have had a pretty good season and will be looking for a league position that reflects that- 14th or 15th probably not a position they’d be happy with. No way they are mailing it in with 6 games to play.

Fingers crossed anyway.

Apart from the financial implications I'd say it might do you some good to go down and rebuild but I have no idea what that will do to you. In terms of the playing squad it'd be a good opportunity to have a bit of an overhaul but the Championship is a bitch to get out of as I can testify for (a decade in total including dripping to league 1)

Whatever happens you'll still have your club and all you really can do is carrying on supporting as much as it hurts. I'm not meaning to sound patronising but I do really feel for you and I'm rooting for you stay up, preferably at the expense of Leeds

Because right now, if we stay up, we have to raise around £50m just to stay within PL P&S rules.

The EFL rules are much, much tighter. I thought it was a £50m loss over three years but in the Championship it's £39m over a three-year cycle.

Everton are hugely reliant on the TV money to keep going. That's what pays the wages etc. We have a huge, huge wage bill and a lot of the players won't have relegation clauses so we will have to sell those players way below market value and odds on would have to loan the likes of Gomes out as there simply won't be buyers given his wages.

The PL TV money will go. The parachute payment will cover some of it but hardly enough.

And we'd have to somehow get a whole new squad together that would be good enough to get out of that league?

There's a lot of if's and maybes in that but i think there's a whammy of a force majeure on its way into the accounts because of the Russian problem that will wipe out a massive chunk of debt along the lines of the covid £170m. Moshiris already got away with that one he'll do it again. Another covid write down will be put on on the next accounts also which wont be in the same magnitude if the £170m but will be substantial. Players may get sold for under market value but the nucleus of the team will remain. There willbe no fire sale at Everton cos one thing moshiri has to do is protect his investment. Only my thoughts but i really honestly don't think it'll be as bad as people think.

Matty, if we get 12 points it really won't matter what Leeds or Burnley do, that would put us on 41 points Burnley will not get 41 points and I doubt Leeds will either.

Whether Leeds are involved in the relegation battle or not all depends on tonight. I do think they will win as they seem to find a way. But really palace are a better side and are at home and on that basis should be winning this.

If Leeds lose then we have 4 games where we have to make 4 points on them where they have 3 games playing City and Chelsea at home and arsenal away. That is very doable and will put us in a position going into the last few fixtures where its in our hands. We also have a superior goal difference which counts for a lot. But that is all dependant on what happens tonight first. A draw tonight for Leeds also keeps them in it but if they lose they are right back in it.
