My mates a Villa fan and he said he enjoyed the stint down there and can barely be arsed watching them back in the PL despite having better players on show due to the nonsense of VAR, big 6 dominance etc.

I said to @Bluestar and @Saint Domingo Monied clubs like Newcastle, Villa, Everton, Wolves and ambitious clubs doing things the right way like Leicester, Palace, WHU wont accept the likes of UEFA giving Spurs a leg up into the CL for finishing 8th which is what will be happening from 2024 under the new CL format.
We haven't finished 8th since 2008/2009.
What that has got to do with Everton's relegation battle I'm not really sure.

My biggest worry isn't Burnley or Leeds, it is Everton tbh. I am not confident at all that we can win another game. Even when we get it right and put a decent performance in everything is going against us i.e injuries, bad luck on the field, poor ref decisions.

Really need for our luck to change asap if we are stay in the PL.

From the very start we made noises about being able to spend and compete (Martinez quickly started his talking up super positive nonesense) which of course was just an open invite for everyone to pull our pants down.
It was that first interview Moshiri did when he gave it loads about signing Koulibaly and co, it made us look so bloody stupid. It just showed we had no plan but to go and spend like a sailor in a brothel.

A well run club with a long term plan can achieve a position where they are in a place to be challenging for the top 4, especially with the money we’ve spent.

Moshiri has just thought money = success
Totally agree. Richarlison and Pickford are the only success we have had.
Every other signing been a complete failure and taken us from best of the rest to well the brink

Moshiri is still a Billionaire mate not matter what league we are in.
If that was the plan then surely it would be built now, he would just have written a cheque and wham bam!

How do we pay for it IF we get relegated, we would be up the creek without a form of propulsion. I can’t understand those that think relegation would be ok as it would reset, it would destroy. If we must have a clear out and reset we should do it from the premiership where the money is available for it.

Kenwright is main reason we are in this mess. He should have sold the club long ago but his priority was self interest he couldn't let go.
He only was interested in a buyer who was willing to let him continue to run the club.
The first red flag for Moshiri was when he retained Kenwright I was a bit concerned about that at the time but looking past that none of us were to know how clueless Moshiri would turn out to be when it came to running a football club.
If we are to survive this season Moshiri needs to either sell up or if he stays he must get rid of Kenwright and all his yes men.
There was a deal that unfortunately kept Kenwright in, which is annoying.
We signed the wrong players and picked the wrong manager every single time when better choices where available.
Walsh and Koeman was a horrendous choice.
Selling off Lukaku and Stones and forcing Barkley out(Koeman) instead of building around them.
The pursuit of Silva was a joke, appointing Fat Boy then giving him money was idiotic.
Been one stupid decision to another all while having inept people running the club. I mean 3 years from buying BMD to showing us images and all the pointless surveys after surveys just for world heritage to moan anyway.
We should be going in to BMD next season or was it this season

Well that's what happens when people demand we spend money that we haven't got.

The problem with Moshiri is that on the surface of it he isn't that bad. He puts his money in but when you look into it more he makes some utterly baffling decisions that you could not really predict until he was in the position to do so.

I don't think there is any metric to measure the likelihood of a football club owner racially abusing a players mum, employing a rival clubs legendary manager 10 years past his sell by date or being a bit weird on the Jim White show. Sadly these are things you don't learn about until they actually happen.
When did he racially abuse someone mum?

But the owner is the problem, who do really think this guy will put on the board?
The owner IS the problem with his constant interfering but the board are responsible for the day to day running of the club and they have failed massively for years at this. The whole lot need to go mate (Owner + board)

I knew Moshiri was an absolute weirdo within 6 months of him been at the club and that’s having not met him, when he started making comments about James McCarthy being family. I think Kenwright, having properly vetted him and probably spoken to contacts at Arsenal before selling to him, would’ve or should’ve had some sort of an idea what an absolute danger he was. Kenwright was irresponsible and selfish in selling to this man.
Moshiri was probably coached by Kenwright

I haven't a problem with Spurs mate but if people think clubs like Spurs or Arsenal finishing 8th and potentially getting into the CL whilst a club like Newcastle with multi billions behind them finishes 7th and gets Europa Conference isn't going to cause friction and/or legal battles then they are naive.

And if the pressure from other clubs doesn't bring change to the current set up long term I think you'll see a decline in interest.

At the moment its a perfect storm for things to go wrong for the PL:

1. Many people haven't returned to the grounds following the Pandemic be it due to health concerns with COVID or they are out of the routine.

2. Cost of living crisis - can fans of clubs like ours justify spending money on season tickets and Sky/BT subscriptions when we're forever midtable making up the numbers?

3. Lack of true competition in the sport - Post 1995 only Leicester, Wigan, Birmingham and Portsmouth have won anything of note outside the "big 6".

4. The VAR/ESL/FFP farces

5. Primadonna players on obscene wages turning up when they want.

A lot of people are losing interest in it all. I watch Everton games and Championship/League One/Europa League. I haven't watched another PL game all season and dont watch the CL not out of protest but because its boring and predictable.
