Relegation

With the players we currently have we will finish mid-table in the Championship.

A massive overhaul is needed if we want to be the best Championship side and win promotion.
We would probably mess it up by getting players that 'know the league' like Tom Cairney who basically plays a year for Fulham in the Championship then gets dropped when they get promoted, only to win his place back once they are relegated again

Watford, Norwich & Burnley along with Brentford will stop us from going down.
All 4 of them (maybe not Burnley) aren't capable of getting 9 points in 3/4 games fairly quickly
4 wins will do it, and im guessing they will all be at Goodison Park

Burnley have only lost 1 of their last 5 and are starting to put results together. They might end up getting around 34-36 points if they carry on.

Relegation would be a financial disaster that would take years to recover from.

Newcastle we’re able to retain their playing staff when they went down because they were a financially well run club and had no debt. We’re in a totally different position, our wage bill is huge and we would have to offload all of the big earners and there’s plenty of them. We’d be forced sellers and so wouldn’t get market value for players.

We’re also in the process of building a stadium which is in the main being paid for by loans being taken out by the club which have to be repaid. We would be financially crippled as I can’t see Moshiri funding it all by himself.

We literally can’t afford to go down.

Well I don’t want to be, and we won’t be .. but maybe there would be a silver lining?

At the moment? Grim and relentless. No chance of Europe, win 1 in three, the atmosphere is toxic much of the time, and who has any fun? Who has really had any fun for quite a while?

Relegation of course brings a downside. But suddenly it would mean being the best side in the league, winning nearly all matches, being at the top of the table, a feel good factor. And dare I say, winning something.

On promotion everyone would feel good about the club again.

We probably wouldn't win anything. But, even if we did come top, its not winning. Its coming 21st in the league pyramid.

I think Burnley and Newcastle will climb clear.
Watford will get harder to beat too.
That said, Brentford, Leeds, Palace, Villa and Leicester are all out of form, I actually think any of them could be drawn in. Be interesting to see where things lie with 10 games to go.
Injuries will obviously be key for us. If we can get Yery back sooner rather than later, it could be huge. Love or hate him, we're much better defensively with him. I also think the new coaching team will get the most out of godfrey when he's back.
Not likely that we'll get anything against City but hopefully we can put in a fighting performance for 90 mins.

That would be incredible. The yardstick used to be 38-40. It is a terrible indictment of this crowd of Muppets if we stay up with 31 points.
I agree. I think people are overestimating the quality of the league when Burnley who have 2 wins all season aren't bottom and Norwich who didn't win in their first 11 games and are 1 point off 18th. Last year 29 points was enough by the way, as the disparity between the leagues grows I think we will start to see low 30s as the benchmark for beating the drop.

Why are we paying this shower ridiculous wages to come up with nothing performances.

I am now retired, but we had PMDS which meant regular meetings to discuss performance. Underperformance had consequences.

Probably 35 stays up. The only club ahead of us in freefall is Brentford. Leeds have gotten at least a pt in the majority of matches, same goes for Palace and NUFC can't see any of them going down. I just don't see where we are picking up 13 pts. I'm just praying that its 30-32 for 17th and not 35.

Fancy Leeds to finish above Brentford. They’ve got better players.

Watford Norwich Burnley still the three for me to go down with hopefully Brentford being the one to drop in if one suddenly finds form.
I think Brentford will almost go down with Norwich, they look a side that is totally spent over the past few weeks, it just comes down to which of us go with them.
