No key player injuries + Brentfoprd defeat was the priority today.

We're nearly there on those two objectives.

Then we leave it for 2 weeks and reconvene the hard fight to come.

I'd like to have won today, but I must say I'm not that arsed in the grand scheme of things.

That's two wins out of three to leapfrog them, or a win and two draws to get level. What is it about 2 wins in 19 games that convinces you we will win 2 in 3?
We've won 4 times in cup and league out of FL's 9 games in charge.

Even if we leave Boreham Wood out of it that is 3 wins against PL opposition in 8 games.

Do the maths.

We'll have 3 games in hand and be five points behind....and take a look at thir remaining fixtures. They'll get hardly anything from them.

Leeds might get clear, but Brentford are getting sucked right in.

As I say: forget that cup defeat - THIS Leicester v Brentford game is the most important game of the weekend for us.

I still reckon it was our game, but purely to get the belief that we can win away, that aside the cup wasn’t as important.

But we need every favour, and even though Brentford have actually looked tidy here, we need every favour.

My concern is we’re hopeless away, we can’t even draw. Away to Watford and Burnley? They’re increasingly becoming the most important games in recent history.

I look at Brentford though and dont see them sliding right past us in the coming weeks. It is a nightmare foixture list they face....and we have 3 games in hand.

This Brentford situation is going to be as important as Burnley.

Any momentum we had after Newcastle has totally disappeared, today was always going to be a tough ask but it’s the manner of the defeat that worries me.

We‘re struggling to create any decent chances and this is happening week in week out, they might as well have walked off the pitch when the second goal went in. If we stay up it’s going to be by default, because the sad reality is this squad is the worst I’ve ever seen in over half a century of supporting the team.

We have also gone on a run of 2 wins in 19 at one point this season. Premier League games only - which are all that count in a relegation battle.

I take your point, in general, but I am more pessimistic than you. My sample of matches is larger than yours. The trend is stronger. But I admire your stoic approach to the situation. I'm less sanguine.

That was then and this is now.

3 wins and a draw for me.

35 points should be enough.
Yep, maybe even a bit less than 35 this season. 3 wins and a draw should be ok if we can somehow muster it. 11 games left and the 5 at home are going to be super important, got to keep behind them and try and drag them through. Then most of them can do one.

These biggest games in in 20 years fixtures are now almost one after the other

I think 33pts does it so we’re looking for 2 wins and 2 draws from 11 games
