Based on points per games of Watford and Burnley so far, 30 or 31 points should be enough
Every season someone at the bottom goes on a run, it only takes one of them to do it and we are gone, doesn’t need both to do it for us to sink.

Burnley have the know how, we all know that, and Watford have got excellent home fixtures, and have recently got 7 points from Man U away, Villa away and Southampton away since Hodgson came in. We can’t just expect them to carry on at their points per game ratio, on the contrary.

I can’t remember ever seeing a squad of ours as mentally frail as this. As soon as they concede first the game is done. Good job they weren’t 2-0 down against Wimbledon in 94 or we’d have lost 6-0!
Today was the same as Spurs, Southampton, Newcastle away. A reasonable start, on the front foot, but deflate like a burst balloon as soon as they let 1 in. New DoF needs to be looking for leaders and strong characters as a key feature of anyone he brings in.

Youre right, we dont have one single leader that either grabs a game by the bollocks or can organise a team on the pitch.
You look at the number of times players are out of position/make the wrong choice/jog bloody back and a real leader would have them told every single time.
Top top level teams can get away with a smart captain as the team can near play on autopilot, but we need a growler always have done and always will.
Not having a single one in a squad of 30 is criminal.

I look at every team in the Prem, of previous winners etc and they have leaders throughout.

United had Keane for years and he was an average player who made the brilliant players know their place.

Henderson is like it for Liverpool and really probably since Gana for us, and Further back to Neville never never had prior who really terrorise defences or organise the midfield.

No surprise that we are a mess.

Miserable losing today but this team wasn’t going to go on and beat the likes of Chelsea and City to win the cup.

Hopefully Mina is back soon. Our back 4 is terrible, Godfrey included.

….much prefer to be in Brentford or Leeds position with 4 or 5 more points on the board despite playing 3 games more.

Starting to look like 2 out of Burnley, Watford and Everton will drop along with Norwich.

Just checked:

We’ve got one away point (at Chelsea) since October 2. That’s October 2, 2021 AD. Half a year ago since we last didn’t avoid defeat on the road. Absolutely staggering.

And we sell out every away game. Unreal.

One thing is for sure, if we manage to survive this season we really have to sign a mobile, tough, tall centre back who has some leadership qualities. I think really to have any chance of surviving as a premier league team, in the medium term, we have to use as much of our budget as we possibly can to sign such a player. The rest of our many deficiencies can be addressed with what is left after this, be it with loans or free transfers, but, we really have to have a dependable leader in there.
If we somehow manage to stay up (and I’m not convinced we will) this is absolutely critical else we’ll absolutely be going down next season.
