£50mil? seriously...no words

£500mil it was mate. We’ve just released an interview on the OS with Brands, and he said they didn’t see the extra 0 on the fax they sent us.

We’ve had to give him the Liver Buildings to live in as well, cos he doesn’t like hotels. He’ll also have naming rights on the new stadium, even if he isn’t playing for us!

I’m shaking with rage, so is my 39 month old son, he keeps crying and pointing to the photo of Straq on the fire place.

Pretty reliably (i.e. from the Joyce/Hunter circle via e-mail ) the fee is 'understood' to be £35m plus £5-6m in realistic add-ons. EFC have also waived approximately £5m Watford owe for Cleverly appearance fees & the Deulofeu add-ons. There is money to the player & agent (not Watford) on top of this so maybe EFC's cash/debtor write-off outlay could one day approach £50m. There is no explicit Silva compensation included but Watford have agreed to drop their claim.

I never thought i would live to see the day we spent 50M on 1 player. o_O

I just hope that Moshiri is in this for the long haul, and our great club are not just a passing hobby for him.

What , realistically are our hopes and expectations for the coming 12/24 months?

And do our hopes and expectations match that of our " loadsofmoney" owner?

Lets hope it is only £35m as some of you claim. Even 35m is too much for this supposedly star player joining from Watford. I will be delighted if he proves me wrong of course.

Such a small sample size though. Ok our recruitment on the whole has been poor since Moshiri arrived but before that we were arguably the best in the league at recruitment out performing the majority of the non top 6 teams every single season even on a negative net spend under Moyes. Signings like Stones have made huge profit whilst even Lukaku went for at the time pre Neymar was close to a world record fee.

City had their days of buying Elano Adebayor Wayne Bridge etc. Spurs had a disaster after selling Bale before turning it round, Liverpool have been to the brink of administration wasting money under Benitez on poor buys, came out of it and allowed Comolli to waste it, and then even let Rodgers waste another load. So excuse Everton for having 2 wasteful windows in their recent history. Even the greatest blue of them all got it wrong with his first raft of buys.

Richarlison will not end up on that list of flops. He’s a completely different profile of player. I think and hope we will be looking back on this as a great buy when we have an absolutely top notch attacking player.
We tend to focus on the negatives but there have been successes also, Pickford and Lookman being the most obvious. I think Walcott has been good value for money and Tosun certainly looks promising based on what he did last season.

The major losses financially have been Bolasie and Klaasen.
Most of the others have not been great value but given that all footballers are depreciating assets anyway they are not disasters.

Exactly this.

Eventually you want the club to sell itself (See Malcom to Roma, Barcelona intervention).

To get your club to that level you have to roll the dice and take risks. As mentioned Spurs, The RS and City have thrown countless £100ms in the bin (and this during a period when you could get a very good player for £10m).

Richarlison's fee is not too disimilar to the fee we paid for Fellaini in terms of inflation.

I look forward to seeing this lad play.

Misery and despair, wrapped in sadness and garnished with depression.

If all of this was true, I wouldn’t bat an eyelid because it’s Everton and anything’s possible.

Funnily enough I was thinking about naming rights the other day and I think for a few billion pounds "Usmanov Stadium" has a ring to it
