Honestly cant say ive seen a great deal of him at all, of course he caught the eye early on for Watford, but then he went utterly AWOL, I get the "reasons" why, but from my brief look he doesnt look anything close to the finished product, but not a great deal of 21 year olds are. We are taking a massive gamble really, but unlike the Iceland deal, where we bought him and we are VERY unlikely to see any return at all, at least given his age, we might, MIGHT be able to sell him for something if he utterly flops!!! Maybe anyway.

I dunno really, im willing to keep an open mind regarding the boy, I just hope hes got a massive set of plums, cos moving clubs for 40m is a little bit of pressure.

If we're going to pay over the odds, FFS at least be throwing out bids for the Perisic and Insigne's of this werld. How many times are we going to attempt to rebuild on the cheap before we wake up? Brands is REALLY going to have to work in his time here. If he makes something of us, he'll be a certified master.

10m is chump change when you consider a points deduction, depending on the number of points deducted, could make a massive difference in cut of the revenue regarding finishing place.
 
The lad is clearly one of the best young players in the Premier League but £50m seems a bit steep.

Having said that, much of that £50m will probably only be payable if/when the kid meets certain targets.
 

35m tops, no way should we be singing a player that had 12 good games in a row last season , for 50m. I know the market is crazy but you can still buy very good proven players for 50m it’s not peanuts. They signed him for 11m last year same as we paid for lookman , he had a good 10-12 game spell just as lloman did in Germany both scoring 5 goals, both stand out players in their international U 21 teams and are only one year apart in age, so, why are they 30m apart in valuation ? Especially as lookman is English? Lookman bid started at 12m apparently we want 20m? If that’s our valuation then richalison cants be any more than 30m and that’s it. If we buy for 50m the up side is unlikely to happen with regard to making a profit . He would have to turn into one of the best wide players in the league . The downside is far more likely , he won’t be one of the best in the league and we will end up in a similar situation to sandro, klassen, Williams, mirrallas, bolasie I’m a year or two. Salah was bought for 34m good players can be bought for that , kluivert , Malcom are going for a lot less

1) "EPL tax" which is stupid in theory but with the amount of money at stake each year in the Premier League, it is what it is.
2) 50m seems to have been a serious overestimation. It may turn out to be that high with all clauses and asterisks included, but I bet the initial fee will be much lower.
3) see above Telegraph article: consider 10-12m of the fee as compensation to Watford to end this tapping up kerfuffle. Watford had previously rejected a 12m offer from Everton for compensation.

But Perisic and Insigne won't come here. Insigne is a 5'4" midget too. 29 and 27 respectively.
