What I can’t stand though - and it what my ‘bantz’ was aimed at - is people constantly crying at the prospect of our players leaving, and on the flip side the sneering you get from some posters calling people stupid for thinking we can hold on to a good player. Someone said on here the other day that they hope Gomes has a few bad games so the big teams aren’t interested. That’s a very weird view.

Teams outside the elite are much more capable of keeping hold of their best players than they were, say 5 years ago, so it’s not a given that good players will leave for bigger teams.

I wonder how many goals he’s going to get this season. If both him and Gylfi keeps scoring, I dont think getting a striker in january should be our biggest priority.
 

Lads. It has crossed my mind that he might not be here next season.
And if he is, then only for one more season.Only a matter of time before he gets linked away. :(

..he’s done fine but I think he’d have to do even more over a decent period of time before leaving becomes a consideration. I couldn’t see that becoming a major issue until the end of next season at the earliest.

I can’t imagine he goes next season. We still have him on a long contract and can afford to keep him. The season after, there is a great chance he goes if he keeps improving. Hopefully we somehow make top 4 next year while we still have him.
