Yes, but it’s 40k per week rather than 150k like Bernard and 80k like walcot and bolasie.

People on here keep telling me that Gray and Townsend were just brought in as squad players and are great cover (am dubious)… The three you’ve mentioned were all bought as starters for the first team so not really comparable. Not even Brands is crazy enough to offer squad players £80-150k a week.

It adds up though, squad players have to actually contribute and offer something otherwise might as well flush £80k down the toilet as you’ll struggle to shift them for the duration of their contract.

Townsend was bought in to cover our Bailey signing (it looks like we were genuinely after him but cannot shift players) and gray is cover for Richie. We were unlikely to get anyone else, free and cheap, with good experience, who will ultimately be bench fodder while saving £150k per week

There is absolutely nothing that has happened so far this summer that suggests we are going to improve the squad. We made 3 signings youd expect from a promoted side and haven't moved on the players who have failed for several years.

Appointing Benitez shows exactly what the expectation is for this year - Midtable.

Of course, we'll see what happens. But you're expecting things to happen when there is no evidence of it being likely.

We needed a right back 3 years ago. How could anyone expect us to finally get one. If they were serious about overhauling the squad they would have started by now. You don't improve a poor squad by adding more poor players just cause they are cheap.

I can only believe we will make radical changes to the squad when I see it happen. I've been waiting for years.

You know we spent half a billion in the last 6 years don't you. Granted, horrendously, but we defo changed the squad (all but RB)

We haven't spent a huge amount since that summer of utter madness when Koeman was manager and Walsh DOF. And there are still poor players from that time being given more chances.

We dont move players on. If you aren't willing to make tough decisions to move players on then you will never improve.

Anyway, Richarlison is literally one of about 3 players we have who i would be disappointed to lose. Having him in the side makes us better, even when he plays poorly.
