Fair enough, benitez isnt without blame. But if we see off another European cup winning manager, who will we turn to and when will we start looking elsewhere for the problem?

I didn't say they don't. But if you're suggesting benitez lied about the reason for this substitution or you seriously considered the idea, I'm afraid it's you that needs looking at

For god's sake, if he thought richarlison was just playing [Poor language removed] or he wanted to tweak the tactics, he'd have just said so! It's absolutely deranged to think we'd have a manager lying about this

Great timing to join the conversation.

Do you like pineapple on paella?

It wouldn't be the first time he has lied about stuff.

It was a pretty bizarre situation all round that one though.

“It was frustrating I couldn’t stay on the pitch against Crystal Palace but Rafael did the right thing for me and for the team.

“I wasn’t able to play at my maximum capacity because of the issue with my calf and if I stayed on I would have done more damage and, probably, faced a longer period out of the team.

“I love playing football and love playing for Everton and am always sad when it isn’t possible to be on the field with my teammates.

“I understand the manager was trying to protect me. My recovery started as soon as I received the diagnosis from my scan and I will work every waking hour to be back in the blue shirt as soon as possible.
Is this a genuine quote or piss take?

Signing up to the forum to just insult other fans and stick up for the manager nobody likes is a bold strategy mate i admire it personally but not sure it will work well. Managers regularly lie or at the very least exaggerate about players being injured so there's nothing weird about thinking it might have happened in this case. Even Benitez understood that which is why he got so flustered about Richarlison's reaction because he knew exactly how it looked and why Richarlison has very obviously been told to make a statement saying the manager didn't do anything wrong so I'm not sure why you don't understand it.
I'm certainly not trying to insult anyone. I get the ill-feeling towards benitez, just find it frustrating that it clouds everything and leads to an irrational and hysterical atmosphere around the club which isn't conducive to success. It's that that prompted me to sign up as I felt the need to share my frustrations.

Benitez knew the reaction didn't help, and knew the fans didn't want him off, hence the explanation. It should have made sense to people.

I get that it's not easy and we'd all rather not be in this conflicted position, but the constant anti-RS feelings aren't helping.

If there was a better alternative without the RS connection, he should start immediately. I'm just not sure there is. It definitely isn't unsworth or ferguson!

Just my opinion of course. And I think that might be enough for today!

I think you've got to admire Benitez for his desire to tackle things head on and try to turn around an hysterical and dysfunctional supporter base. It's hardly an atmosphere conducive to success but he is clearly not afraid of a challenge.

Or we could just sack him and bring in Ferguson?
That is exactly what they're angling for and have been since day one.

What a football club this has become, where some fans are determined to install one of the figures from the disastrous and failed clique as manager when we all know there has to be an utter fumigation of the club at every level.

They want the constant failure to be never ending as far as I can make out.

Really?
those accusing him of making the whole thing up look ridiculous.

the supporters are becoming a laughing stock and part of the problem. W

supporters are still creating a toxic atmosphere, failing to see reality and losing the plot completely

Some of the claims being made look like they're coming from the mentally deranged.

an hysterical and dysfunctional supporter base.

How well would you say that's going for you?

The way some people blithely lied about Richarlison falling out with the manager. Incredible.

If they were to claim it for Digne I could see the logic as it seems pretty certain that relationship is leading to the exit for Digne.

Although Rafael confirmed today that Digne was in the first 11 to play against Chelsea but claims he's ill.

I was howling at him being taken off as much as the next man but there was defo footage of him rubbing his calf after. Did no one any favours with his reaction but I'm not sure I see an agenda from him, he always chucks his toys out when substituted. Sure I read an interview where he admitted it drives him nuts, especially if he hasn't scored. Think he's a rare one who just genuinely loves playing football.
