Next summer we will have these 7 players out of contract:

7 Expiring 2022
James
Sigurdsson
Tosun
Delph
Kenny
Gibson
Begovic

Onwards we have this group of 23

8 Expiring 2023
Coleman
Mina
Davies
Nkounkou
Allan
Doucoure
Branthwaite
Townsend

8 Expiring 2024
Virginia
Richarlison
Pickford
Iwobi
Kean
Gbamin
Gomes
Gray

6 Expiring 2025
Calvert-Lewin
Holgate
Gordon
Keane
Godfrey
Digne

I think 23 is pretty much an ideal squad size thesedays.

So, if we were able to cherry pick a few players from that group and sell then we can replace them while sticking to the 23 man squad total.

If we can hold onto Richarlison next summer and sell players like Iwobi, Keane, Holgate and Gomes for low fees then if the fee was £100mil we would be able to recycle 3 or 4 starters....

...it could be a 2nd chance for us since we blew a fortune on Klaassen, Rooney, Vlasic and Sigurdsson.
Hope you’d be right mate but don’t think richarlison will be here after next season at the latest. Still if he does leave it gives us big funds to add to what we have, with all the deadwood gone too we’ll have dropped the wages loads and have a nice amount to spend.

Exactly. The key will be selling the deadwood players and the squad players who need upgrading.

If next summer we can sell Gomes, Iwobi, Holgate and Keane even for £10mil each + Richarlison then you suddenly have circa £120-140mil and 350k+ in wages.

Thats being conservative.

Bring in 3 or 4 top players with that money and it could mean a new cycle for the team.

All well and good John but who do we replace him with for not a lot of money?
Well that is the million-dollar question, but he it was not like we plucked him from obscurity, we paid a big chunk of cash to secure him - the benefit of 2021/post covid is that there are a lot of bargains to be had and our lack of money is countered by the money we would have from the sale, which we can reinvest and spread the impact of that spending over several years

Richy Paris bound?
If true Brands better step up
Our talisman lost
I know the words common sense and Everton are not often used in the same sentence, but I would hope that Everton has contingencies in place for the impact of losing each of the first team...clearly, part of Brands team's role would be an oversight on players that can fill that gap. Everton will lose its best players to bigger clubs that's just a reality, Succession planning is a key part of growth for any business so dependent on individual talent to be successful.
