History, unfortunately, suggests you should perhaps not be too optimistic
I not disagreeing with you, but I think Brands will begin to get his way and assert more control of the overall strategy for player development and acquisition at Everton - I know there is a lot on here that don't rate him but I think he is starting to lay the foundations for success. Carlo leaving came as a complete surprise, left the board picking up the pieces of a plan to bring DF in as Manager - let's be honest Carlo was irreplaceable in terms of stature and I think that overshadowed the managerial appointment. Going with a Graham Potter or similar was a step too far.

So lets hope history doesn't repeat itself

Anything close to 100m and we'd have to sell. That's what we need to start doing properly, selling players at their peak for high and then finding a replacement at a low cost.

The clueless folk who run this club need to start getting so return on these signings instead of splashing millions upon millions on utter tat and offering obscene wages to limited players.
If you aren't bankrolled to the hilt or got shady money everywhere then this is what EVERY sustainable club does/should do. Look at Leicester, yes they have gotten some wrong but that's pretty much their whole MO. Buy low, improve the player, move them on for a substantial profit, rinse/repeat.

I think kane wanted out 100% but levy held the cards and decided he wasnt folding. Kane had no choice and so changed his mind and acting it was the spurs fans recently etc is laughable. Richarldson like any player will want to play in a top team. No one can blame him and as long as he gives100% while he wears a blue jersey ( which he will) I will thank him for his excellent service for us when he does join a top team. I would be betting next summer.
My point was and maybe I didn’t make it clearly was that, if Kane wasn’t a Spurs fan and been at the club all his life he would have handed in a transfer request and gone on strike to force the move. Sadly for Kane I don’t think he’ll get this opportunity again. Mbappe (free) and Haaland (release clause 68m) will be available next summer. They will have the top clubs falling over themselves to take them.

It works if you have a scouting network and director of football to identify these talents (like Leicester has) Unfortunately I have zero faith in brands replacing Richarlison with anything like the same quality.

I’m a massive fan of Richarlison but if we had an offer of £100m we’d have to take it.

It would solve our financial issues overnight.

Only problem is that most of the obvious players I would’ve liked us to bring in as an alternative have already moved, like Bailey.

Agreed 100m is a great deal...but timing is all wrong now...gives us no time to replace him, and every other club would know we were rich and desperate (If Brands was any good at his job, we'd have planned for this moment and identified the young players we would look to bring in, but I very doubt that's the case)...

Tell PSG, 100m next June you have a deal

We will soon know if there is anything substantial to this , apart from the usual go to transfer people, when the usual suspects start pushing a narrative on the blogs, twitter accounts etc or start alluding to a narrative with the aim to defuse any cheesed off supporters. I don’t think that’s happened yet.

There was more or less a understanding last year with the player and previous manager of leaving for CL football.

We will see what happens and if it does, who that phoney director of football will have lined up to replace him.

I’d rather he stayed another year, the team progress in the league as best as possible and use that money to really build towards a decent side next summer.

….I expect Brands has a catalogue of talent he could acquire but as was discussed and largely agreed on here recently, he has increasingly weakened power in getting his way.

He’s accepted he isn’t bringing any players in unless Benitez gives him the green light, whilst it seems Moshiri is dealing with agents and acquiring players directly. Benitez is also able to identify and acquire targets.

i‘m not defending Brands but he gets all the fume when he might well be just a very well paid administrator.

Mr. Walsh was part of their scouting network the year they won the league. He was our 1st dof. Still didn't work. The planets have to align for stuff like Leicester to happen.
