….being a regular for Brazil is a decent benchmark to compare players over the years, not sure we’d have had many fitting that criteria, especially forwards.

Regardless, it’s not that we haven’t spent monies, it’s more that we’ve wasted monies.

For what it’s worth, I think he’s a top player who would be effective at a top club.
This would be our second straight summer selling one.

Might be a stretch to call Bernard a Brazil regular but he played pretty frequently until the 7-1 disaster.

It's a given our recruitment has to improve drastically with or without Richarlison.

As it stands he represents one of just a handful of players we could make a tidy profit on if he goes, and if he wants to leave, we should facilitate it. He has given good service.

The task is daunting but it will confront us anyway. We have to re-familiarise ourselves with player trading for (big) profit. I want interest in more of our players, not less.

We just have to hope that some lessons have been learned and that Lampard/Thelwell between them can make enough of a fist of things to bring stability and slow but steady improvement.

It's mid-table mediocrity we are seeking in the short-term so whilst we have a long way to go to improve, we have to remember what the immediate goals are.

Top 5 players over the last 20 years, interesting.
Depends on what makes a top player tho. Skill, commitment, loyalty, flexibility.
I'd probably have Coleman, Baines, Cahill, lukaku and Richarlison.
Honorable mentions to the Yak, Artetta, Campbell, Barry, Howard, Martin, Jags and maybe pickford.

Can of worms truly opened here!

I suppose he has to go, I mean he falls over so easily if he’s here when we move to our new home on the dock there will be some games he will never get up with the coastal breezes.

I dont care how much he trolls our rivals, what a stupid thing to laud a professional footballer for, if we want that hire a decent stand up comedian for £50 a week and let him rip them a new one. I wouldn’t mind if he had us dripping in medals and trophies but he’s won [Poor language removed] all, it’s embarrassing. Shut your mouth and do your talking on the pitch.

One of the reasons we sit at the bottom of the rest is because we applaud this kind of failure. He’s been [Poor language removed] all season until near the end when he’s shown up a bit to get a move away.

Take the cash and invest it in some hungry talent with a decent work ethic and ban them from social media. Kick out any rubbish that think not working hard can be replaced by trying to cosy up to the idiot side of our fan base.

Smart teams definitely ignore them when deciding who to buy. But football is still filled with dumb dumbs.

Man United buy Richarlison for example. How many penalties is he scoring there? You just bought a 7 goal scorer for your team even if he scored 10 for Everton.
Weren't you calling Lukaku the best striker in the world last summer, despite six of his 24 Spaghetti Pensioner League goals coming from the pen spot?
