2021/22 Richarlison

Where we are financially is even more of a reason not to sell for under what he is worth to us though so don’t get your point.

What he is worth to us is £200m. Arguably he is priceless. But that does not mean anything.

We have to sell to fund a rebuild. Spurs know this.

Richarlison has only 2 years left on his deal and wants to leave. Spurs know this.

No other club is seriously interested at this stage. I'm sure Spurs know that too.

Basically we have an asset that we need to sell and they are the only buyer. They hold all the cards.

Richarlison could weaken our position further by publicly saying he wants to leave but hopefully it won't come to that.

£50-£60m is a fair price based on all of that.

Of course the Sancho and Pepe deals matter. Those deals set the market and Richarlison is far better than both. The market is set by precedent and if average players cost those fees then so does Richarlison.

Just because other teams overpaid doesn't mean we should accept lower fees. We should demand the same.

The Sancho one i will never get personally. Hes just not very good and never was any good. He stood out there due to it being a 1 team league, just like Lookman stood out too.
I don't think Richarlison is better than the Sancho that was brilliant for Dortmund for three seasons in all honesty. He is a good player, he's not an £85m player like or whatever it was he cost.

Richarlison has two years on his deal. He's scored 43 PL goals for Everton. He's 25. I think you look at £60m as the starting point and hope for more but don't go any less. But Everton aren't in a strong bargaining position. I don't think Richarlison would push for a move though, which is a positive.

I dont want to go over old arguments, but German football is absolute rubbish. Average players look good all the time and Sancho is the prime example. He was abysmal last year and was found out by the premier league.

Proven PL players should cost far more.

Oh mate please stop thinking weird conspiracies.

Arsenal overpaid for Pepe. Dortmund named their price for Sancho, who had scored/assisted up to like 25 goals in each of the last 2-3 seasons.

I love Richarlison. I'm just aware of where we are as a club financially. It all has to be taken into account.

I think if he does go, we should get at least £60m for him. I think that's a fair valuation of his quality. It would also allow us to bring in 4-5 players that are much-needed.
I think it proves the German league isn’t that great, Keita, Sancho and Werner. 3 very expensive flops. That being said I expect Haaland to do ok

I mean we can agree to disagree there.

It's definitely a more open style of play which lends itself to attacking players like Sancho having more freedom. It's a different style to the Premier League for sure. But United have plenty of quality players that didn't work out because the team have no structure or system and bad management. Let's see how Sancho performs under Ten Hag, I don't think he'll be incredible but he has talent for sure.

Richarlison is 'proven' for a team that has finished 8th, 12th, 10th and 16th in his four seasons here. He's scored 13 (18-19), 13 (19-20), 7 (20-21) and 10 (21-22) in those seasons (just counting PL). He has two years left to run on his deal, might very well be open to leaving and the club need money. To me that doesn't scream '£75M OR NOTHING' territory...

Two of those flops have won the Champions League. One has won a PL title and two other pots and helped reached 2 CL finals too.

Don't think any of them are amazing and they definitely cost too much. Haaland might need a bit of time to get going but he's a brilliant player.

Goals in a league not comparable to the Premier league. If someone completely unproven at a good level can cost that much then Richarlison should cost a lot too.

Yes it's a fair point, and it's partially about what value you put on goals in what is a B rate league (certainly not one of the "big 5" leagues). You could also point to 6 in 10 in the CL, which feels a similar level to the PL.

The wider point though, is I'm not sure they are comparable. One is 22 and has scored a lot of goals in an inferior league. The other has just turned 25 and has less goals in a better league. Hard to make a comparison IMO.

And he may go onto another level. For the right team I'd probably back him too as well (more so than DCL). But thats a risk for the buying team that gets factored in to the price.

He's not shown himself to be a 20 goal a season man.
