2021/22 Richarlison

I agree in that in "real economics" he isn't worth say £75-80 million but neither are most players sold for those fees truth be told.

If he wasn't our best player and we had a squad of quality akin to the latter Moist years or early Martinez years I would agree £60 million wouldn't be "awful" business but the reality is we need to sort our books oot and have the dough to rebuild the team.

No team sells their best player for a fair value you'll always have to over pay and Spurs have money they are just tight arses.
Spurs would buy him for 50 then a month later demand 100 for him.

The issue is, that we need to sell a player, and Swansea didn't with Sigurdsson. Also that sale essentially relegated them and we paid that in the post.
I understand there are mitigating circumstances, but whilst we need to sell it is not at the point of accepting the first/low-ball offer. For me, outside of the obvious footballing reasons, that's why avoiding relegation mattered. We have to be firm whilst accepting the reality of our financial situation, but we don't need a gun at our head.

His record for his country doesn't affect his value. Scoring against Qatar, Honduras, El Salvador and Bolivia doesn't add much weight in negotiations.

If Sancho was to be put up for sale this summer, there would be a market for him. Liverpool, Chelsea and probably City would all be interested as they were during his time at Dortmund. He signed for £73m last summer, I think they could get close to that figure this summer, no problem.

His market value is still much higher than Richarlisons because he is younger and has done it consistently at a higher level. Plus he is English.
So so much wrong with this.

Although Richy is a good player, unfortunately that’s all he is. He’s nowhere near as good as he thinks he is and doesn’t look that much out of place in our team, the truly good players drag a team to be better and are head and shoulders above the rest, he isn’t. He doesn’t start for anyone in the top six in this league.

You can literally tell exactly what he’s gonna do the whole game before it’s even started and that’s not the sign of a great player. For me I think he’s been angling for a move for a while and done his best PR to get us on board so we don’t give him a hard time when he moves.

I do like him and like I said he’s a good player for us, but anything north of 50 million and I’d sell him tomorrow.

We only need to sell if richarlson himself wants to leave. Changing agents may mean he does. We don’t know if he wants to stay in the premier league also. He may fancy Spain or France. As others have mentioned we should do what ever we can to keep him for another season and see how the World Cup goes. If Brazil win it then that would be the pinnacle of his career and his value would increase.

In this situation we find ourselves in, I believe trading one proven average player for three or four unproven players with higher ceilings will result in a higher finish for the team.
This from a guy who was a Benitez-apologist all the way up to his dismissal and who supported Moshiri's wish to appoint Pereira. Whatever Mr Deventer says will stave off relegation, the opposite is more likely true.

If Spurs value Richarlison at £51m that's fine, that's up to them, we shouldn't accept it, if that means he stays, that's fine, we'll have to sell somebody else. Taking a lowball offer isn't the solution to our financial issues, it sends the message that we'll sell our assets on the cheap and will cause problems further down the line. Everton need to take a leaf out of Levy's book and have firm valuations in mind, buying or selling, and stand firm on them. Then maybe we'll see Thelwell GIFs floating about the internet rather than Levy ones.

it makes no sense that he joins Spurs. Obviously they are better than us in league position for last several years, and currently have a better chance of winning something, but he is definitely looking to regular CL after this, and that's not Spurs. They are just one manager away (i.e. if Conte leaves) from going back to regular Europa League qualification, and not challenging for the title any time soon.

Off topic, but I guess your track record is impeccable?

I was never a Benitez apologist, I just said that the blame lay with the club and the players and I didn't think a change in manager would drastically alter our course. It didn't.

I would not even pick up the phone to that bald egg levy, he's not going to give what we want so what's the point. Puppet face Arteta is more likely to give us a better fee.

Trouble with one more season mate is he walks away FOC. Unless of course his greedy agent is thinking along those lines as well with a bumper signing on fee ?‍♂️

You blamed the players and now are all for selling one of the very few who actually bust a gut to keep us up for less money that it will cost to effectively replace him. You're a strange cat.

P.S. we were going down under Benitez, so while our change of course might not have been drastic, it was at least effective.
