We just escaped relegation on the penultimate game of the season the bold is completely irrelevant to us right now.

What we should be doing is taking last season as the wake up call; sell what we need to sell, reset, get ourselves financially healthy whilst finishing anywhere above 18th and slowly getting ourselves back up there. That will probably upset the large delusional portion of our fans who want everything and they want it now.

We cannot sleepwalk, bleeding money going into this new stadium.

On topic: sell two of Richarlsion, DCL and Pickford this Summer if needs be.

Totally agree mate. We have made small steps backwards over a prolonged period and trying to make huge leaps forward isnt the way to correct it

We need to make incremental goals over 5 years or so.

If we sold both, we would need to find someone who could at least get 10 league goals next year, and that's not as easy as it sounds. We stayed up in the end because we scored slightly more goals than Burnley. I wouldn't back the club to do that. They tried to replace Lukaku with a £5m Sandro Ramirez....

Again, I don't want to sell them, but the club has to sell at least one of them.

Any club in the league could replace 10 goals so let's hope the new axis of Thelwell/Lampard do better than their predecessors. I'm also personally expecting Gordon to score more next year when he's not burned out.

I don't think we can sell both forwards. If we sell both and don't replace them adequately then we will get relegated. We have extremely little margin for error because we didn't even get 40 points. I think we definitely sell one this year, and the other the following season if necessary. We need to also make sure to move on the other underperforming players, especially those with only a year left, like Allan, Gomes, Mina etc.

My gut instinct is we sell Richy, keep DCL and add a second striker in Broja. Then use the rest to try strengthen across the first team

Things can change quickly in football yet you think we will be in a relegation scrap for the next 20yrs. West Ham in 18 months went from bottom 6 to top 6. Leicester from mid table to 5th twice and then back to mid table. Wolves 7th twice to then 12th.

I do t think it would take much to be in mix for the Europa places. Even with an horrendous season, the worst injuries in the league, had var done its job we comfortably finish mid table. It’s a bang average league imo. Eddie Howe probably had Newcastle performing as top 6 from when he took over. Apparently frank on his 17 games would have had us 13th. Carlo had this group 2nd at Christmas last season.

I don’t think moshiri wants us to balance the books and finish 17th. This is all about P&S rules, we will sell richarlison and DCL over the next 2 summer, maybe Pickford as well. But we will spend plenty as well imo. And once we reset P&S, hopefully by the summer we move into BMD we will go again.

Question really is, Richy you are relatively speaking pretty certain you're selling between 8-12 goals, it's his 'reliable' return in essence. DCL is the tricky one as are you selling the 4/5 goals and constantly injured version (in which case instantly it's a sell decision) or are you selling the 15+ goals version who stays healthy.
Selling both and replacing 12-17 goals is relatively easy. Selling both and replacing 23-27+ is way harder.

If done perfectly (or not even perfect tbh) it's very much possible to turn a team around in 1-2 seasons.

Leicester, West ham both clear examples of this recently.

The key is recruitment and stability.

Both scenarios are difficult but we can't just ignore the fact one day they have to happen. In my eyes, loan for Broja will get a return similar to DCL in our current setup.

I want to keep them too, but we're in far from an ideal situation so I'm fine with us making a sale if that's what we need to do. My worry would be what happens if we sell both. Where are the goals going to come from. Gordon should improve and I think he will, but Gray didn't score since the FA cup 3rd round IIRC, Townsend is injured, our midfielders don't contribute other than the occasional Doucoure goal, and our only other forwards are youth options like Dobbin and Simms (who I don't think is good enough in any case), or Rondon....

We would have an enormous rebuilding job in one summer and a real risk of relegation unless we got it right. It would be a huge gamble for a side who got 39 points, to sell both your goalscorers.

Agree, Richy to me is the more obvious to sell if also the biggest miss just because he'll demand a higher fee and plays in the same position Gordon already does. This Summer is an enormous rebuilding job regardless considering how poor the squad is and how close to relegation we were.

If we were to say loan a Broja, get a Lewis-Potter and another winger, some central midfielders, we have Tarkowski, maybe full-back cover I think the squad would be more than capable of staying up and with the passion of Goodison continuing do fairly well.

We need young, hungry, passionate players who stay fit and put in the effort Gordon and Richy do.
