Depends who the player is, cash plus a player could help us get around giving Watford fees and can allow us to misvalue players to suit FFP etc.

Obviously money + Winks or Moura isn’t the one but I wouldn’t rule out a cash + player altogether

We paid about £34m up front with add ons up to a further £10m. I remember the original reports in 2018 that it was going to be a £50m deal but they were all quickly quelled. Of course, those are what stick in the mind.

And anyway, we won't sell for anything under £60m, I don't think. But I'd say £60m right now is probably about as fair a price as we can expect. Sad but true.

To be honest, I don't think it's that bad. I mean, I'm not sure I'd be overly impressed at what I was getting for £60m if I was a Tottenham fan.

If anything, we paid quite a lot for him in the first place, considering what'd he'd done in his career at the time, so it was always going to take something truly spectacular for us to make a profit on the scale of Lukaku or Stones.

I'd compare it to when Fellaini went. An important player, more valuable to us than he would be to any of his potential suitors, but unless you're expecting them to keep signing extensions in perpetuity, you've got to cash in at some point.

Very unusual for a player to be included that we actually want or infact need. No interest in players being added unless the manager/DoF has targetted them.

This week I've seen fans turn their nose up at Christian Eriksen, and now they are turning their nose up at Lucas Moura.

What standard of player do folks think we are actually going to be able to attract after narrowly avoiding the championship and having very limited spends?

Obviously wouldn't like to see Richy go, but he clearly wants out now. So, If its £51m + Moura, we should be biting their hands off.
