You all know a lot more about how it really works than me.Let me start by saying I'm glad negative rep is gone because I'd be nuked to hell for this.
I think we overpaid on him when we bought him. To me 50m, and anything north of that, is an okay price for him at this stage. He's a good player, and sometimes a very good player, but not more than that. That being said his his spirit and his fight have been enormous for us.
We don't have a bottomless pot of cash so we need to sell players and recycle the squad from time to time. It's necessary if we want to progress.
Losing the player doesn't bother me at all. What I am fussed about is our ability to recycle that money well. That's the most important thing in all of this.
But it's a rebuild and he's probably a luxury during one. In my view we need steady hands guiding youthful talent. Of course, Everton have been woeful at finding both, but I do think settling in for a multi-year rebuild with Lampard is the right move for the club. Things need to be torn down and rebuilt with purpose. Hopefully that's what happens.
