The Mighty Quint
Player Valuation: £40m
I'm still astonished at him trying to blame our good cup runs on our bad league form, that's got to be the best bull he's ever come out with.

He said jt might have had an effect on the players. I'd been thinking the same thing. Also said they had to get it right anyway. Which is kind of saying it can't be an excuseSemi final. Uses the excuse that none of the other semi finalists have won either.
Just watched the presser.
Someone tell me where Martinez confirms that he MADE Baines apologise?
I imagine he said,
"What/why did you say (that)?"
Baines replied, "I didn't mean what is being portrayed"
RM- "Right well you have to make sure you say what you mean or don't say it at all"
LB- "You're right, sorry".
I would imagine too that within that conversation RM would have asked him if he did think there was a lack of chemistry.
You're all allowing your hatred for the man to stop you from thinking rationally on this one, imo.
How on earth were we the better team? We created about 1 chance and hit the bar, we struggled to string two passes together, it was abysmal. If your standards are that low, best of luck to you
To be honest mate, it probably comes down to fans wanting to hear a little bit of honesty from him. Not a case of jumping on every word, but just hearing him say, we have been poor, I need to change our approach to games. Just anything to essentially put the blame on himself and have accountability for the season, that is all fans want to see from him.
Remember these are the same fans who he blamed for poor league form at home.
I agree he does seem to have difficulty in managing games from winning positions, again the problem with substitutions surfaces. I understand that he wants to keep attacking, which is one of the only things he's thoroughly consistent with, but sometimes, you just have to say enough is enough, we've already scored enough, lets finish this game off without conceding any goals, rather than looking to finish it off by scoring another. He seems to be oblivious to the fact that his defensive mids, McCarthy etc. can get tired if they're going to be running 10 miles every gameSee that is naivety in itself mate. He had switched to 3 at the back, which we aren't comfortable doing. So straight away he had weakened the areas that west ham could cross from. As for him seeing that? Literally days afterwards he denied we had a crossing weakness after west ham players said the opposite.
this is what i mean about not seeing games out. Same as 3-1 stoke for example, short time left and yet we lost. It isn't just what happens in the drssing room either, the manager needs to be able the manage on the sidelines as well. You see west ham putting crosses in more, or looking to get into space, you tell your now wing backs to drop back. You see a sub being picked out for passes, you put someone on them to man mark them etc. you use subs to counter what the other team is doing, none of this happens with us. We keep doing the same thing win or lose, exactly the same as last year.
Hell gareth barry coming on in the 89th minute AFTER we have conceded twice? What good will that do? Or the formation in the Arsenal game by the end, was never going to get anywhere unless one of our better players does something special.

So you don't think Baines meant there was a lack of chemistry? You don't think there obviously is?
It's more likely that Martinez doesn't like people showing whats behind the curtain of positivity.
You're love for Martinez is causing you to imagine hypothetical conversations between the 2.
hatred of the fan base?Did you imagine that post or allow your hatred of the everton fan base to overcome you.
Oh dear mate.
I do think there is a lack of chemistry, yes.
I don't think it says anywhere in the presser than RM has forced LB to apologise.
That's all.
Behave.Just watched the presser.

So it's still the players fault. After 18 months of him training them it's still their fault. He said jt might have had an effect on the players. I'd been thinking the same thing. Also said they had to get it right anyway. Which is kind of saying it can't be an excuse
