no point in addressing anything until the semi at the earliest

Depends on your view of the situation mate, this is our best chance in a long while to win silverware and if you believe the managers lost the dressing room (I do) then I think it's unwise giving him the semi final to potentially see us roll over. Obviously those who think the players will turn up regardless or still support the manager then I can understand your viewpoint.

I've been saying this myself until the last few days. Honestly not about it now.

It's a rather crap position to be in because either decision could have a negative effect on the team.
just don't see how firing a manager with a month left in the season serves any purpose. just address it when the season ends if the board (moshiri) isn't happy with the situation

Fair point, I just don't see how bringing in a new manager will give us a better chance in the semi (especially as it will mostly be someone already on the staff being bumped up to interim manager)

Assuming our history began with the start of the premier league presumably.

Yeah was meant to say 'Premier League history' .... Still got less points than Walter Smith ever did though.... (the man who was sacked, before Moyes was brought in as his replacement)

Certainly these are clear contributing factors but surely it is the managers job to manage them. having 5 squad members coming out of contract at season's end is really a Martinez thing - he should have a more concrete plan to cut any deadwood that does not have them hanging around the squad and bringing the tempo down. He would know that.

They were on long term contracts. Hard to shift them when they're shuffling around and asking for their birds to put their model legs away and bring a bed pan because they're nearly crippled :p

...if that were the case - and I'm not being insincere when I say this - I'd sooner have JIMMY the KIT step up than JONES.

Thanks for the heads up about Walter Smith - patronising much?

Such a low points total that our glorious current leader only beat it by 8 Last season ;)

Stan Collymore said earlier, if you replace Lovren, Sakho and Mignolet with Huth, Morgan and Schmeichel they would be kicking on for top 4. It got me thinking if these minor changes we had, let's just say Huth and Morgan, two no nonsense defenders, we would be fighting it out for the title! I think Collymore only mentioned Liverpool because they were playing tonight but if Everton had those tweaks....
He doesn't want no nonsense defenders! He wants ballplayers. We'd still have to set up the fullbacks to stay deeper. We don't stop crosses..

How is it patronising? I know my stuff, and I know that Moyes' lost the players that season. Had murder with them in fact.

If you think he wouldn't have been castigated and tossed to the lions if GOT was around and as popular at that time, then your're wrong. We went on to finish fourth the season after - once everybody manned up a bit.

Can it actually get any worse? I think there's only one way for Martinez to go, and that is up.

And I'm not doing this to be controversial, I like the man, there is something about him and I am dying for him to succeed, maybe I'm soft and would hate him to lose his job as we all know he is working hard to build something here. I just him to acknowledge his wrong-doings and have that same inspiration he had two years ago. I've got a soft spot for him as he's a really nice person.
Do you work for the club or something? lol
He's a lovely guy but can't organise a defence as far as I can see.
If he can't get inspired with the talent he has- why will he suddenly get it. You must be a dreamer like him, and I don't mean it as an insult.

Are you on the wind up? It's patronising because I doubt there is anyone here who doesn't know who Walter Smith is, or the fact that he was manager before Moyes, or that he was a bit rubbish.

Wouldn't be so quick to say you know your stuff if you don't know the difference between facts and conjecture. Nobody knows what the reaction would have been on here if this site was around and as popular at the time because it wasn't.

Big issue of mine that. 'back off' seems to be the job of the Martinez fullback.

No, no, not for me - kick them into the stand if you have to - anything other than letting them have a free cross into the box.

Moyes' position would have been viewed on here as being untenable too, the season before we finished 4th. It's not always that clear cut.....
Moyes admitted his mistakes sat down with the squad and listened. He had 1 terrible season, Bobby has had two, with what appears to be a better selection of players. The fact that the whole Moyes finished 17th made me hope last year was a one off. Now we know which season was the one off.
And are you blaming Gibson & Pienaar for our bad form? That they're disturbing the manager?
