Not a chance.

It's cloud cuckoo land on here after every defeat. The manager is leading this team next season and you know it. We've been here many times before and we know that a couple of wins stabilises matters. We beat Chelsea next week and then it's forgotten.

We have a manager who's assembled a great group of players who buy into what he says, but they lack a couple of characters who can lead them on the pitch.

That's easily sorted.

I'd be surpised if Martinez wasn't still manager in 12 months time, but I wouldn't be shocked if he wasn't.

I'n assuming Moshiri is way more ambitious than Earl, Woods and Kenwright have been, will fund a reasonable transfer kitty in the Summer and will be looking for an improvement next season. If the improvement isn't forthcoming then there really can only be one outcome, so the pressure will be on.

I hope Martinez will respond positively to that pressure, but the jury's out for 12 months or so.

There has been 1237 votes so far in the poll of which 476 are voting in. I would ask any of those 476 why afrtye looking at today's result and the season they are voting in . What is you are seeing in RM?
Things I like about him are

That he didn't blame Kev post match, plenty would have but even when he'd fallen out with players (Distin, Howard, Eto'o) he has never thrown them under the bus in public.

Genuine interest and long term plan of developing young players - talented as they are few managers would have given Rom/Ross and now John time to go through bad patches and approve of what he has done with the academy setup.

Attacking football - I used to moan like hell when Moyes brought in a defender for an attacker to see out a game only for us to end up packed in the box and defending for our lives. The Lennon/Niasse sub didn't work and perhaps it would have been better for Barry to come on for Lennon and Niasse for Rom but in general I still prefer that type of approach.

He can be tactically erratic but he isn't clueless - the three at the back was working well today for instance until the red card and the first sub was a good reaction to that setback.

Seems able to spot good players and persuade them to join, even with better finances a good transfer ratio of hits to misses will be important.

His defensive organisation can be weak but even then we have seem some progress, our set peices have been noticeably better since Christmas and in general think that defence is easier to correct than lack of attacking threat.

Not going to claim that he doesn't wind me up at times and understand others not sharing my views but still think it worth persisting with him especially as he is still a relatively young manager.

Too clever by half.

When Omar was getting ready to come on today everyone around me, and myself, thought for sure Rom was going off as the lad must have been knackered after the shift he put in.

It was unbelievable that Omar was sent on to augment Rom in a game which we were coasting despite being down to ten men.

Sorry.....but that was such a clueless substitution that I despair of Bobby.

So, @ianefc, I have now crossed the line.
Bobby thinks the best form of defence is attack why Moyes was the opposite.

Martinez will be in the same position next season of all but about 5 PL managers. He's not a new manager or one that has won a trophy (unless we win the FA Cup), so he'd be there to prove his worth and if he doesn't and Everton are bottom half by the international break he'll be under pressure.

He's building a very good team and needs to add steel. If he doesn't, he wont last. But there's absolutely no question he'll be given that time. The events of last week assures that 100%, All the fuming in the world after a gutting loss isn't changing that, no matter what.

Looks like we won't be beating Chelsea then.

#ITK

And we should have put a hatful past them even with 10 men.

We were a missed pen away from that prediction.

Hardly the smoking gun evidence you seek.

Need battlers in the defence. A defence might I add that he inherited.

Clearout in the summer and rebuild that. We'll fly next season if we do.

Our defence today :-

Robles - Signed by Martinez

Coleman - Inherited

Oviedo - Barely used by Moyes in a starting eleven. Promoted by Martinez and, in previous posts by yourself, you've sung his praises

Funes Mori - Martinez signing

Jagielka - Inherited

Stones ( first half today ) - Signed by Moyes but only played under Martinez

... and you wonder why people think you're a WUM ?

I think you are correct, he'll still be here in 12 months, however the question might be in what role? Anyone who has been successful in emerging markets, like Mr Moshiri, is both a pragmatist and a realist. Clearly Martinez has many talents but he also has inherent weaknesses. It would not surprise me if Martinez becomes "head coach" with an additional coaching team alongside, specifically a defence coach,.

Behave. They are all Moyes' signings barring Funes Mori. There's no qualification that can be made on that. Robles was not the problem today either. There's no steel or fight to that backline when they get pulled back in a match. Hopefully he's sorting a couple of defenders and a GK this summer.
