Moyes was a very good manager. I don't think I've ever stated otherwise (sober anyway!). I didn't like the brand of football though, that's just me.
From those players you listed, let's talk about his second season, the beginning of his "failings".
Fellaini had gone purely because he wanted to.
Pienaar- previous season stayed relatively fit.
Baines- struggled for consistency, had a niggling ankle problem
Coleman- regular little problems
Howard- became awful overnight.
Distin- same
Jelavic- already gone because he was nowhere near top 7 quality. Couldn't hit a barn door.
Gibson- never fit
Naismith, sure, played well.
Kev- good season.
So, not being arsey, it seems clear that at beginning of season 2 he thinks he has an experienced back 5, never injured, and has retained his 15+ goalw striker. He also has a playmaker at LM who can help against more defensive teams with osman as back up.
That second season went horribly wrong and with limited finances being spent on Lukaku, I don't know what he was expected to do about it?
This summer he potentially has an open cheque book. No more spreading funds. Go out and buy quality.
Id like to see him given the opportunity, personally.
