There was a tweet yesterday (sorry can't post/confirm details) but I definately saw it in my timeline (from @evertonaren't we I think, open to correction) that went something along the lines of Jon Woods proving his value/loyalty to Everton on Friday, the implication I think that he would back Moshiri over Kenwright, the walkout at Anfield being a hint of his unhappiness.

Anyone have any more info? Would given credence to the board disharmony argument.
Was from someone called soppy toffee, Everton aren't we believes kenwright is still calling all the shots

considering mate in the past week not a single thing anyone has said on twitter has been anywhere near accurate i would take that with a pinch of salt also.

Literally, has there been anything everton related that has been true? apart from the score lines?

the only thing i still don't get is that the club have effectively not said a word about last week realistically and almost tried to pretend it didn't happen.

there was so much hype and talk of it, even after liverpool the talk was for saturdays match. Now as soon as the final whistle went, the club have effectively shut up shop and chosen not to say anything about it. Pretend like it didn't happen and it will go away.

now i know Martinez is leaving at the end of the season so not kicking off. but if the club in some silly way decided to give him more time next year to finally prove himself then surely they would do that without the fans onside? All it would take is a defeat or whatever and the fans would turn again on the manager? It would be terrible for public image of the club to have a manager the fans want gone kept on and continue to be booed next season. It could do almost irreversible damage to the fan base, it would become the norm to boo the team unfortunately.

I just want him gone.

All the eggs where in the FA Cup basket and he dropped them. No point in saying we had a good 45 mins 2nd half. All season we have put in 1 half or 25 minute bursts of excellent football, masking 60mins plus of utter garbage. This consistency has seen us throw countless points down the toilet with no system in place to rectify it. we didn't even get out of neutral gear at Anfield.

Last week was a hammer blow, I felt sick to the stomach and the manager should pay the price now.

Roberto won't sack himself: we should be angry at our toothless board. The spanish clown is only at the helm because of their decisions...

board out > martinez out

This. Our final 4 games ain't the toughest either, we will beat a Bornemouth side already on the beach in Ibiza comfortably, get a result against a Leicester side that will in all probability have already won the title and and still have bellies full of Champers, get a result against Sunderland and more than likely beat Norwich at home on the final day.

Then it will have been a phenomenal end to the season and show everybody we are heading in the right direction ready for next season!

Sorry, but we need crap results in the last 4 days.

"What a fantastic manager" - remember Kenwrights comment a couple of weeks back. I think he honestly believes that. I think he puts too much faith in what Dave Whelan told him....the best manager in Europe was his opinion...even when they were bottom of the league!!

If anything is going to happen, it will be when the season is finished.

Now, they are probably sounding out a few candidates and none of them might be interested so in the meantime he has a chance to improve the current situation and maybe keep his job for a last chance season.

I think the problem with trying to understand it is;

However, the problem is that our boardroom, for a long, long time, has been anything but competent, so logic goes out the window.

To add, I've worked in football and things do tend to be pretty erratic and do change quicker than in most industries - we'll see.

I think to be fair you need to put Niasse on your list and we need to try to work out the loss in value of these players
over this season.

Also Lukaku, Barklay, and Stones are highly unlikely to be here next season, so the damage Martinez has done
is difficult to work out yet.

Buying players does not always work out, we only need to look at what Liverpool have spent to remain in the top seven.

Martinez was left with a good solid side he has squandered it with his insane logic on how the game should be played.

It may take years to repair the damage he has caused, and the salt in the wound is his comments `judge me over 3 seasons`
what an utter egomaniac totally refuses to see it is his responsibility and his philosophy simply does not work

Niasse isnt a young player though.

Hes also barely played. The signs dont look good admittedly but im going to judge his worth once he actually gets some game time.

Im not convinced how solid the side was that he was left. It did a job for years but look at the stalwarts of that squad who served Moyes well. We had no club captain after Neville went, no serviceable strikers at the club, a defence which never turned up when it mattered most (been like this for years) and the likes Osman, Hibbert, Howard and Pienaar had all aged to the point of not really being useable options. Most of our good players these days are Martinez players though of course its fair to say he is not getting the best out of them.

I do think the job Martinez had on when he joined us was a lot lot bigger than some people realize as the previous eras squad had stagnated.

We all have our opinions.

For a while I've said he's going nowhere yet. He is still here.

Prior Moshiri, there is no chance he would be sacked.

I don't know enough about Moshiri's character, or intent. He's said very little, and I judge someone on their actions.

Whether Martinez stays is, ultimately, down to Moshiri. He comes from Arsenal, perhaps the most loyal club to managers in football, to another. What has he done so far? He promoted Elstone to the board, and we know Kenwright remains very influential is a staunch supporter of the manager.

Is it a fair assumption that the majority of the board - by individuals - back the manager?

With that, I just don't think Martinez being sacked is inevitable as most expect. We're now seeing it, he is still in a job.

If he's going, I think it'll be on Moshiri's demand, against the grain of the board room - and when the season is officially over.
I agree with you totally here. I also think this latest episode mean we really have to pick our next manager very very carefully as its plain to see we don't sack managers lightly!

If it takes a season where the worst home record in our entire history still doesn't get the manager sacked, at least when we all think he should be, then as I say the next man MUST be the right one.

Roberto won't sack himself: we should be angry at our toothless board. The spanish clown is only at the helm because of their decisions...

board out > martinez out

Whats his nationality got to do with it?

Can we please, please, please stop calling him a Spanish whatever or El something?

I have no doubt people dont mean anything by it but it just looks horrible. He can be a clown without being a Spanish clown.

Games or days? You obviously are talking about the premier league that is played on a daily basis,
you know the one that we are 4th in the table if the games were played daily and not weekly
philosophy of a clown `phenomenal` .............
Oops games I meant obviously. Had a few beers but I'm not an alcy honestly, I work nights so now is my evening so to speak..

Honestly think right now, everything that Martinez is saying is with one aim, he knows he is gone 100%, he also knows just how underperforming he has had this team and is laying the groundwork for claiming credit post his departure for anythinjg a new manager achieves and also to try to deflect the criticsm aimed at him when that happens

Bangs on about the young core of the team in vital positions - laying the seed to being the one who allowed them to develop even though it meant we suffered result wise, new manager will reap that benefit in martinez world - a benefit of martinez long term planning no doubt

bangs on about the 9th on budget - obviously aware that next seasona nd onwards Everton are likely to climb much higher in what we spend comparitive to right now, so a nice excuse of any upturn in performance from a new manager being due to this, and that he would have done the same - else pointless for him to mention it even

Points out us being 'so close' to silverware and highlights the 3 seasons us doing well in the league, doing well in europe and doing well in the cups, so any new manager who comes in and does better - then Martinez has shown over those 3 seasons he could do the same and the vital experience the players gained is what helped the new man push on with this team, also throw in 1 and 2 above for the reasons a new manager could get the team performing better in all 3 comps

He is looking at his future, right now in a similar way as constantly he claims the credit for everything that Swansea did after he left he is preparing to do after his tenure ends here, he perpared the foundations, at his won cost ultimately to lay the foundations for a long term plan.

Utter bs by him - but given the fact he will be almost certainly doing media work next year - and a lot of it no doubt, he will have people believing it over time
