Getting to the cup SF is worthless. Ok, by the same token, getting 5th in the league is hopeless because there's no CL.

That sorts out the way we should have looked at most of our seasons in the sooper doper Barclays Premier League. No difference between 5th and 15th.

I have said this to you before.

I will say it again even though it appears to go right over your head.

There is a world of difference between finishing "5th and 15th".

Not just the cash prize money or the prestige of finishing top six rather than bottom six.

But more importantly, for the sheer added pleasure it brings to the thousands of us who go the game or who watch on TV all around the world or who listen to EFC on the radio or who get their updates from the matchday thread on GOT or merely follow the game on Teletext and whose lives are considerably happier and more tolerable in the days after an Everton win.

You yourself are numbered somewhere among that lot.

And if we finish 5th rather than 15th it will be because Everton FC has won more football matches over the course of the season.

That is a simple truth, Dave, against which there is no rational argument.

To win twenty games in a season is better than winning ten......end of.

And if that means we finish 5th instead of 15th then this here particular Blue says

.....I have a view on the Kone role but to be fair it has worked a treat on a couple of occasions this season. Perhaps he's trying to be too clever at times, perhaps he is stubborn but ultimately he'll be judged on results and if he finds a way to win matches we'll all be chuffed.
