Thankfully boards are oblivious to fan feeling if this level of hysteria is reached when we get beat playing with ten men for an hour.
It is clearly not one game that is leading to this discontentment. There is a very real and evidence-based argument for thinking that we and the board, should be seriously concerned about our manager.

I obviously don't know him, but I've met him.. And he's utter sound.
SO hard to dislike him..

But that sub ffs.
The flip side being that many will like him as he's a very pleasant man but that's not a determining factor whether to keep him mate. Plenty are rooting for him because he's pleasant and "gets" Everton but it won't prolong his employment when it comes down to it.

The sub made a lot of sense on Saturday. Niasse was introduced to cover a lot of ground, make them keep defenders back because of his threat on the break and to hold the ball when it came. Lennon had been playing more as a second striker than on the left so it was like for like.

In hindsight it didn't work out but the reason we lost was not down to this sub, it was other factors and primarily as played with ten men for one hour of Premier League football. And because we are prone to losing focus and heart in moments of adversity late in games.

No it's not down to one game and yes there is some concern. Plenty had concerns about Moyes for a long time too.

I think the hysteria is a bit overwhelming personally even if I totally understand the disappointment from the weekend.

Straw, camel, back?

I think every football team reflect the managers personality in one way or another... and we are just too nice as a team and not hard and ruthless... much like martinez himself.

The same goes for arsenal and wenger at the moment.

It definitely showed in fergies united team. Win at all cost and never flinch.

If only martinez had a steelier side to him.. like moyes had. It would transfer into the players and performances.

But I'm finding myself longing for a proper yard dog centre half Chico..

When I really want Cryuff turns and step overs ?

Put someone like Shawcross in that defence and we'd win many more games. Which is my point, the margin is not insurmountable. It's attainable.
Well you've said the S word.
Keeper protection and everything else that comes with such a player.
What I'd give for Waggy.

Ale house defence and lightning boss attack.

How on earth can I actually not want Stones to be picked for an FA cup QF this weekend eh ?
What's that all about ?

I was thinking about this. I genuinely don't know how good Stones is in the air. Better than Funes Mori? The Argentinian needs to improve in this area but he may be better as foil to a grock.

The idea that adding shawcross to our defence last summer would have seen us challenging for the top 4 this season is totally bonkers. The problem is not personnel, this is the best squad we've had in the last 25 years.

It was Jekyll and Hyde, innit.

You'd have thought we were the ream with the extra man.....:(
I had a brief look at other games this season in which a team lost a player to a red card in the first half.

Counted 12 until I got bored, in all of them the team down to 10 men lost - irrespective of whether they were home/away, leading at the red card or not, a team with a defensive/attacking manager etc.

Too small a sample size to make sweeping conclusions but given any team seems able to beat any other on their day in this league think the difference of an extra man for so long has a huge impact regardless of tactics.

Grock is also the word I have used. Jags is ace at what he does, best blocking tackler in the league. Mori has just come straight in and performed, Stones looks shot to bits.

It's late, so I'll take a liberty and compare an old side.
John Bailey was a cracking footballer.
Kendall saw the limitations in that going forward.
Kendall wanted a proper full on defender.. Just to defend like.

Pat was the man..

Let the defenders defend and let the footballers play football ?

What you reckon ?
