Think Martinez will be the manager starting next season.... I would imagine he will get till Xmas. IF we maintain the key cogs of the squad + add 2-3 others.... he will have had every opportunity to save himself. Supposedly the playing staff haven't turned on him yet , if he can keep the group together ...maybe they turn it around.
Having said that , while he is ridiculously positive and waxes lyrical about Everton ...if he refuses to learn from his past mistakes and develop as a manager , we may as well get shut ASAP

I had a brief look at other games this season in which a team lost a player to a red card in the first half.

Counted 12 until I got bored, in all of them the team down to 10 men lost - irrespective of whether they were home/away, leading at the red card or not, a team with a defensive/attacking manager etc.

Too small a sample size to make sweeping conclusions but given any team seems able to beat any other on their day in this league think the difference of an extra man for so long has a huge impact regardless of tactics.

If I am honest with you Links, I think Saturday would have easily bucked that trend if A) Rom had buried that penno or B) a more sensible substitution had been made.

It is just infuriating, every time I think about it

Heart says yes, head says errr this is Everton!

We could well have got a point though as Bilic might have considered the game lost and made different subs eg rested Payet.

Payet.

That bloke is keeping me awake at nights, Links.

Where I sit in the Bullens is right next the away fans.

And after the game I walked to Kirkdale in the midst of a whole bunch of them.

And all through the match and all the way to Kirkdale they were singing this song about Payet......and I cannot get it out if my head

It goes sommat like this.....to the tune of Billy Ray Cyrus's Achy Breaky Heart.

We've got Payet,
Dmitri Payet.

I just don't think you understand.

He is Hammer's Frenchman,
he's better than Zidane

We've got Dmitri Payet.....

That might not be verbatim what they were singing but that is the best I can translate those Cockernee accents, innit

But I sure wish we had Payet ;)

lol He would have certainly come in handy at times, although his wages would have been a nightmare.

But conversely bet they wish they had Lukaku, even with missing the penalty he has 8 in 8 games against them;)

The idea that adding shawcross to our defence last summer would have seen us challenging for the top 4 this season is totally bonkers. The problem is not personnel, this is the best squad we've had in the last 25 years.

Sound, point out the bit where i said we would be challenging top four?

But again, over reactions and shouting down anyone who has a different opinion.

I'm still in the IN camp, but only just. Another capitulation like Saturday will probably push me to the OUT camp. Should he go now or in the summer I don't know. Maybe he should get to keep his job as long as we're in the FA cup.

Its hurting me watching you still stick up for the clown in charge.
Its like going into battle with a pea shooter please stop he has been seen through mate.
You need to let it go or you will end up staring into space for the rest of your life.
Don't lose your credibility mate

Davek has credibility? WTF.

I use to think he was either a WUM or crazy. But now I know he is definitely the latter because even if he was on the wind up you'd have to be crazy to be that dedicated to pretending to be.

Ha Ha. EL football. Yeah, great. NSNO.

You are the one boasting about semi finals and Martinez's 5th place finish you absolute hypocrit.

5th means you did well in the league and it's something to build on to go higher next season. It means you are a much better managed side than the team that finishes 15th. I could go all day, I dono why I'm explaining this to you cause I know you already know this.

This '5th-15th are the same' stuff your pulling is an obvious lame mechanism to absolve Martinez of he's failings. But people are not stupid, as you can tell you are getting destroyed by the masses in these Martinez threads.

And if you're thinking why am I and everyone else bar a minority are militantly, repetitively and overwhelmingly calling you out its because you have been militant, repetitive and overwhelming in your polarising guff for so long on here.

Honestly, dont think Jose is realistic, we can offer him the wages, we can offer him a "warchest", but hes not the long project type, he wants teams that have a chance of winning stuff and I mean real stuff, the CL, the Title, sure he MIGHT be able to get us a CC or an FA Cup, but thats not enough for Jose.

We need somebody with staying power, somebody that enjoys the long project, somebody that values a youth set up, Jose is a winner and would without question be by far the best man for the job, if the job is to be Champion, we aint Champions, we aint even close to being also rans currently.

Pretty much agree with you on all of that, guess i just hope that the new owner sets the bar high and go for the best we can do, the one glimmer of hope we would have had to get him would have been the state of the league and all the teams at the top, sure he'd think what he could do with this team and with a decent amount to spend, but reckon that type of view will be blown out the water by the arrival of Guardiola which will mean this should really be a one team league next season at the top.

What i am sure of now is that martinez can't take us anywhere close to becoming relevant at the top, nice bloke, nice ideas but think he tried to run before he could walk as a manager, too many lofty ideas and not enough basic grounding of him, thinkiing about a 5-10 year project - the use he imagined for Finch Farm etc and building through youth - it only actually works as long as the results you obtain can justify patience and his results have just been so poor especially at home.

Further proof if needed that he is out his depth would be the part that worked this year is the away form - the games where really w edon't play his phillosophy in, the home form is the actual way Martinez imagines us playing and it's been a utter car wreck

Thankfully boards are oblivious to fan feeling if this level of hysteria is reached when we get beat playing with ten men for an hour.

Are boards also oblivious to conceding 3 goals after bringing on a second striker when we had a 2-0 lead and only had 10 men on the pitch, meaning we altered our shape and subsequently allowed them to bomb crosses into the bos as we had no wide players to stop it Chico?

At least Martinez and Jagielka put the blame firmly on Lukaku for that missed pen anyway, great leadesrship there from our mananger and Captain standing up and shoudlering the blame themselves.

Maybe they will just ignore that game though, then again maybe they will look at any of the other 6 home losses this season, or any of the other games we threw a 2 goal lead away without the excuse of ten men.

BTW mate, i know your doing a devils advocate job atm on these threads, but has Martinez ever actually taken responsibility for any loss in his tenure? Did he ever take responsibility for the Wigan relegation either - genuine questions as can't remember one occasion he has, been refs faults a lot of the time, been lucks fault, been some players faults, but oddly never ever been his actual fault has it
