Defo. It adds into the mix if he's the right person to be spending money afforded this summer.

He's been good in the transfer market so far so I'd be inclined to say give him the chance, if it doesn't work out then chances are he's signed good players that any further manager can work with.
While I reckon he can spot a player, detractors will point to Kone, Alcaraz and Traore - however all managers sign duds.

Look at Lukaku, Deulofeu, McCarthy, Robles and Barry for example.

We locked the "Roberto Martinez Discussion" thread! Best news this season.

At the same time and while I hate to get all "meta" on GOT, I think locking that thread and then redirecting folks to a thread that has a poll titled "Martinez: In or Out?" is hardly encouraging nuanced discussion. (Well, it's not like)

Ahem, but moving on and embracing the spirit of "new beginnings"....Big game for Bobby and Everton this Saturday. I'm not looking forward to ANYTHING if we lose.

I guess it all comes down to what exactly old mate Moshiri has planned. He may well be scouting out potential options already, or he may be up for a fairly lengthy settling-in process. We just have no idea what state the club is in just yet, so it's hard to forecast what the next moves will be.

It won't be before the end of this season though, and nor should it. For one, he's got a cup to win us. I'd be all for an upgrade in the summer if there's one available, but we're very much in a holding pattern for now.

His bigger buys have been more successful. He will have money to spend on bigger buys.

Good thing is that players sign seemingly to be developed by him and are happy to admit it: Lukaku, McCarthy, Deulofeu, Besic etc.

Always good to have that reputation.

Still think Moyes was better at spotting a player though.

He's done great in the market, Besic is a player. Let's hope he knows of a top 'keeper

To be honest mate, the why and wherefore of the previous thread are not up for debate.

Why bring it up, the discussion had already moved on a couple of pages?

Good shout on that. Why try to polarise opinion?

Where is the "not sure" option @GrandOldTeam. Do moderates not exist on your forum?

In fact calling this poll void.
Ok, fair enough, extra selection added.

True. I think he will get a chance to start shopping at the elite end.
We all agree that we aren't that far off. Maybe 2 or 3 top players in the Summer will be the catalyst.
