Im not too sure about de Boer tbh. He's not proven himself in a top league and even then hasn't won loads (4 league titles yes, but it's a very uncompetitive league, on par with the SPL), plus he has been criticised before for playing a very dour, defensive style of football. He'd get us working hard and would sort out our defense, at least.

Explain this please? Why not get him from the outset?

Just a nagging doubt about his ability to operate in the Premiership. Managing a top club in a lesser league may not be the experience we need at this particular time. Any change we make now is difficult, Martinez has lowered our stock to be one of those clubs who could become embroiled in relegation struggles if we lose a few of our better players through lack of ambition shown by the club. Is De Boer of a high enough profile to get players to stay.

pellegrini would literally be awful for us. He is a older martinez, his style doesn't work in the premier league that effectively and he is still as soft at leaking goals, just at a better team.

de boer, mourinho, fevre best choices.
I have to agree, Pelligrini's City side are frustrating to watch at times, and lack the intensity that I hope a new man brings to the club.

But you want him here after two seasons. That is the part that confused me. All your doubts about will still exist then, no?

I would have expected Pelligrini to have rallied our current playing staff, bought a few good players and put us in a much better position than we are in now. That would give someone like Dr Boer a bit of time to settle into a new league and have a bit of wriggle room.

My feelings are he is gone, but the club are keeping it quiet to keep the pressure off on other managers we are targeting.

Lets take a hypothetical scenario. We want Mourinho. We sack Martinez, this could force united or PSG to play their hand, or Mourinho to flat out reject us until they have. Much easier to do our business quietly, without the pressure of the world knowing we are after a new manager.

I get what you're saying there. I would be sceptical though that confirmation of Martinez departure would trigger any decisive move by Utd for Mourinho. Even if it did, we are clear where we stand then as I think most of us would agree there's no way we are getting him if he has the option of us or them. I would rather that became clear sooner rather than later.

Bluntly put, we make him an offer and ask him for an answer within a reasonable timeframe. He can say yes, no, or maybe. Maybe is fine but not for longer than say 72 hours in my opinion. I don't want him here if he would be half arsed about it, or it became clear that he was stalling on an offer in the hope of better.

In likelihood it looks like De Boer > Pellegrini > Mourinho

Shame as in preference I'd want to see that reversed but still excellent options and massive improvement on the current incumbent

I agree with you, orly. But it's not a bad selection is it?

Listening to our old players, it seems most are quite happy to accept second best,
Saying things like,be careful what you wish for, please Moshiri lets start by getting rid of this second best is OK type of attitude.
Mountfield seemed the exception, but most of them are employed by the club so there not going to say too much. Spoke to Mountfield a couple of years back and he thought Moyes wasn't good enough. He was desperate to see Everton win the league as a fan because he had only seen it as a player.

So no mate.

Its nothing like the SPL.

Judging by that list it's very similar to the SPL: two clubs dominating the title.

Tho' who's winning the titles isn't relevant to what Neiziro is saying. How are the dutch clubs doing in European competition? Not much better than Celtic have managed...
