We have to remember he is a young manager who still learning just like Barkley and co. We should be more patient with him even if we don't win the f.a cup. This game should be his benchmark as how home games could be, a wonderful atmosphere, all players having a good game.

Two semi finals on one season, we were robbed in the other semi due to crap refs.
So we have a cup manager and Moyes was a league manager always on the verge of top 4 but isn't cups better then finishing 4th.
Martinez is like the opposite of Moyes in so many ways.

Hoping you are going the sarcasm there, yes?

Would still rather he leave at the end of the season but winning the cup would buy him time, if league performances/finishes don't improve then it's thanks for the cup but time to go all out for someone who perform in both for me.

You could also say the only reason we had a chance in the second leg was because of the referee missing two obvious City penalties in the first leg.

There is a debate about pens in most games now, a goal over the line by miles being missed is wrong and should never happen.

Only clubs like arsenal, man u compete in both as they have a bigger squad. Martinez problem this season has been his loyalty to Howard and defensive subs.We won't get the likes of Jose, that is naive. I would rather keep the manger who brought us lukaku, del, besic,McCarthy, clever signings in Lennon and barry. He not the complete package yet and he should be given another season regardlessly and he will do now after last night, he not going nowhere. So he can set his team to play at ome so why haven't we need doing this in the league? Let's see if he can fix it next season.

Okay.....so we won a cup tie....against a team which is in Limbo awaiting a new manager.

Like that is going to change my mind about sticking with Roberto.....

Would it make me believe in him again?

You betcha.....:celebrate:

The moment I saw John Stones stood on the touchline waiting to come on I thought happen Bobby is at last learning what needs doing in that situation..

All three subs suggest a new pragmatism.

Mo for Ross.

Stones for Lennon.

Omar replacing Rom.

Slate clean, Bob.......I am back on your team ;)

(For nine, anyway :p)

And if anyone wants to accuse me of fickleness.....feel free.

You can sue me or bite me.....:pint2:

I think Bobby heard you had joined the outers and got upset. In that caption Martinez is saying, 'Get in Rom, that Khal - the fickle sod - will be back with the in crowd after that'.;)

He's been a manager for 10 years odd,he can't be very good if he's still learning after this long.

What a night, what an atmosphere, i'm sure a fan flew over my head when we scored the first and how great was it to hear the whole stadium singing "we're on the march with Bobby's army"
Well done Bobby now lead us on to our first trophy in over 20 years, COYB.

I think winning the cup will buy him some time. Next season the league form has to improve. We really are underperforming with this squad, which in my opinion is only a player or two short of a title challenging squad.

It was like a differant team last night , full of confidence and I never felt like we would lose it once we took the lead. The team had steel for once , so very much lacking in too many games.
I was glad to see his change of sub once Rom scored to bring on astones and tell Del to sit back down, I think it was that anyways. Good move imo.
And to target Costa was a great move too , gets him back for his disgraceful behaviour at Goodison last season.
The only thing that will tell for me is if his tactics in the leaguse change and only then would I consider keeping him, which I sincerely hope he does.

Great night and super result last night but for me at this stage with all the wrongs outwaying the rights , for me he is still gone end of the season.
I wont play any advocates of if we win the cup because thats wrong , lets see what happens and hope for the best.

Fantastic performance from team and manager alike last night. No daft substitutions, just sensible reactions to events unfolding in front of him. Protecting a two goal lead!

Other than having to carry Cleverley for large periods everyone had a decent or better game. Best game from our full backs in a long time.

Considering we've had our disagreements on here I do actually pay attention to what you write because you can debate an issue, unlike some. For you to post this up I'll take your word on it.

What you posted doesn't surprise me, I've heard it in the past with the defensive thing, it is quite obvious that they are not unit and it goes from one extreme to the other with their defensive performances. It's quite worrying if players/staff seem to think it's hampering the younger players, in my opinion it's definitely affected stones. For the amazing footballer he his, his defensive standing has deteriorated fast, he's not being taught the art of defending. Row z is an option.

Suppose it'll be interesting over the next couple of months, the concerns raised will go to the top dogs. The majority of fans and media think he his stubborn, if it the players are voicing it then it's a concern for the club to deal with it. The balance between a happy team and manager needs to be achieved.

My biggest gripe with martinez is defence, it annoys the life out of me. Today we witnessed a high pressing game and suited us, winning back possession and stopping Chelsea doing anything. But once the tiredness set in the holes appeared and they started finding pockets of space, we again became alarmingly open through the midfield.

Thanks for passing this on, very interesting

Supposedly mate it's the defence that's the thing. Stones just said that they pretty much won't practice it unless there is a desperate need for it e.g. mistakes that have cost us in a game.

They're behind him but aren't happy with his training methods at times, would be the basic premise I suppose. The Spanish lessons were pretty much well known
