Now Daniel is one of the most respected evertonians I've been lucky enough to meet and it's quite something when he says something so painfully true.
Thank you Bryan. Too kind, I am sure - especially as I am as emotional as they come. I don't think I've ever called for the manager's head in 40 odd years of following Everton (though after Boro (0-3) I was mightily relieved we got rid of Walter) - and, to be fair, I am not doing that now - INSTEAD I'm suggesting it's time to move on, politely - merely expressing an opinion that - right now and for some time - Roberto hasn't been good enough and has missed the boat. There
is definitely a case for both defence and prosecution:
On the defence side - our luck has been unreal - Swansea away, Bournemouth away (and coasting), Norwich (away), Leicester (I'm sure they conned the ref three times), Stoke (hmm, dodgy pen), Chelsea (miles offside), West Brom (home, unreal bad luck), West Ham (lumped it in the box late on, but some poor substitutions - what is this Niasse signing?).. also City away semi and the Sterling cross for their goal..
On the other hand
we've still wasted away loads of points, loads of good performances where we shouldn't be bitching about bad reffing, bad timekeeping and then today - it was pathetic. The side he picked wasn't up for it - didn't get stuck in, didn't mark properly, barely threatened in the 30 odd minutes we might have got an equaliser and weren't much better after the break, the substitutions were ineffective - Delo has been sidelined for weeks, Mirallas has a strop all season (for whatever reason, you tell me), Osman (and, who knows, Pienaar?) overlooked for Tom the Workhorse - whatever else Ossie is, old, slow, easily dispossessed sometimes, he can be relied upon to find 3-4 decent passes and maybe a shot or two every game and might have had more offensive power to the side in the absence of Mirallas... Stones has lost it - whether that's his head or down to the boss, I don't know. Oviedo is apparently ill, Baines too fragile, Macca isn't the player he used to be, Besic is trying to be the smartass top player he wants to be but fails - e.g. points the pass to Lukaku and then fails to lob the defender... and he's too injury prone. Howard - well that's just another story of fading powers and a manager who was too loyal.
So, yeah, time to start thinking about making the changes. Perhaps Moshi is a progressive sort.
